This place has completely fallen by the wayside. They either changed the recipe of their food or the actual food They were using in their menu items in the last three years, since there is new ownership. This restaurant is the perfect example of something that wasn’t broke and didn’t need fixing and paid a very serious price for it. The food is so awful and unauthentic compared to what it was only a few short years ago. I’m mortified after being somebody who was a regular patron there up until early 2020, for such a long time. One of the last gems left on this Island and it’s truly dead now. The spaetzle isn’t even noodle anymore. It’s chopped into small bits that look like kernels of corn and it lost its flavor. The potato pancakes are such a far cry from what they used to be with a cheaper, less flavorful & more watery apple sauce than the old owners and management gave you. The gravy on the brisket is no longer the same and tastes awful. I’m in love with a restaurant that is now a ghost and it’s just Killmeyers in name. A moment of silence for the boroughs oldest establishment🫡

Lunch at Killmeyer’s Old Bavaria Inn, the oldest bar in Staten Island with the largest Hummel in the world!
For appetizers, we had fried mushrooms and potato pancakes.
For main courses, we had the Rouladen (sliced rolls of beef stuffed with smoked bacon, onions, mustard, and gherkins with red cabbage & potato dumplings), the Rahmschnitzel (pork cutlets with a creamy mushroom sauce, German home fries & vegetables), and Dusseldorf Chicken (in a wine sauce with shallots, mushrooms and Dijon with vegetables & whipped potatoes).
For dessert, German chocolate cake.
The food was good, the restaurant is charming, and the service was excellent.

Great beer list. Fun decor.
Schnitzel was as expected. Burger was very good. Goat cheese salad was not worth plating.
Potato pancakes were puzzling mashed potato patties, had good flavor but the texture was not true reibekuchen/kartoffelpuffer you used to get here, or more generally, in Germany.
Our waitress was attentive and friendly.

Horrible place! We were waiting for the food for 90 minutes! Just 3 sausages and the chicken schnitzel. Never again!

Was sad to hear that the owner sold this place. To new people. I must start off by saying one of my favorite things was the potato pancakes. Now they're just pancakes traditional German potato pancakes are made with shredded potato. It literally was a pancake that tastes like onion on the inside no crispiness totally mushy. 2 of them for 12$ Also the Bavarian pretzel. The beer cheese sauce they use. Has too many curds. Not good at all especially for 15$. I must say the only thing they really know how to cook their would be the spaetzle and the Wienerschnitzel. So disappointed. We use to go alot. Now I don't think will be going back.

They're still open! Got my German food fix. They cut the menu a bit though, but I'm definitely going back!

I have dined inside many times and the food and service is always great. This review is specifically based off my experience dining outside. I was not aware that there is a different menu served outside. This wouldn’t have been a huge deal, but a lot of our favorites weren’t on the menu and the food was not prepared to the same standards as inside. Food was bland, overcooked, and not at all what I’ve come to expect from Killmeyers. We think it might have come from a separate kitchen because we ordered potato pancakes as we always do, normally they are fried golden and crispy, and we received two lumps of mash potato consistency pancakes. We were so disappointed because we love coming here, and if this were my first experience eating here I would not return. If you want to sit outside for a drink and listen to music, the vibes seem perfect for that, but do not dine outside.

Absolutely love this place, since the new owners took over the food is amazing as well as the service. Wife and I have been going to This restaurant for the last 20 years off and on but with new changes/ menus I think it’s worth way more frequent visits. Definitely has wow factor my new favorite for sure!!! Our complements to the chef- Prost!

We were blown away. Loved everything about this place, the food, the live music, the decor. It’s all great, great, great. Like going into a German Grandma’s house.
