Not good service but charge 20% tips without notification this is the policy of the restaurant when placed the order. Maybe because they know no matter what they would get good tips, so they don’t really care about service.
We just wanted to give a try this restaurant today. No more next time.
Sofia’s Taqueria is much better!
Delicious Mexican style eggs!! So good, service was great!
Que no vengan a gastar su dinero por que la comida es pésima al igual que el servicio, tardaron hora y media en traer la comida y la trajeron fría literal. Fue debut y despedida jamás vuelvo a venir
Horrible service took about 1 and half to get out food . Food was so cold it was just a mess .
Very bad service. We were visiting our friends in staten island and desided to go out for dinner and try some mexican food, found this place in google, we get in there (sunday evening around 7.30 pm) a short white man immediately looked at us very serius and asked '' How can I help you''? His body lenguage said he didnt like us, we went to a table and again he said the same thing with a very bad attitude ( we were 4 adults and one kid) I assume he was racist. We simply desised to get up and go to another restaurant.
The Cubano sandwich was incredibly tasty. Highly recommend it. Also really liked the Iguana tacos. Rest of the tacos were normal Mexican flare. We had a pitcher of the passion fruit margarita. It was good.

I got the chicken enchilada, comes with rice and beans.
My friend got grilled fish, also came with rice and beans. The sangria was tasty but we needed an extra shot in it to make it work. The food was fresh but too bland. The atmosphere is nice. We sat outside

I have visited this restaurant many times, and it is a 10/10 each visit. The food is not just incredibly fresh and delicious, but authentic and unique. The margaritas are great too. The restaurant itself is beautiful, I love the decorations and the lighting. The service is great and the staff is always nice and welcoming. Definitely one of my favorite spots on the island, can’t recommend enough!!!!

Disappointed because I was super hungry. Got birria tacos to go … the tortillas were stale and hard, the sauce you dip it into was pure mole and oil, and the meat was not seasoned well. The place seems authentic, but the food isn’t. Just doesn’t seem like they take pride in making their food.

I finally got around to trying this expanded restaurant in the heart of Great Kills. Portions are generous, the food is fresh. Service is a little slow but courteous. The 3 taco plate is a great bang for the buck.

Very authentic Mexican food....the portions are plenty (I'm a big eater) ,the quality is excellent and I've never had bad service! The owner is always welcoming and food is always super fresh! We have eaten at The Blue Iguana for years and never had a bad meal! It's our go to Mexican restaurant in Great kills. Try the Parrillada....it has Chicken, pork, steak, chorizo, sautéed onions, grilled cactus ?, tortilla, avocado, cheese ,sour cream and refried beans and rice. The platter is huge and it's a lot of food even for a big eater like myself!
Parking: Ample amount of street parking and there's a small parking lot for around 6 cars
Kid-friendliness: Iv been taking my children there for years....very friendly atmosphere.

I'd seen this place around for a while now and it is quite big, with an outdoor space adjacent to the lot behind the next door lim service building. They had recently done up their exterior. The interior remains festive and lit with loud music and televisions showing sports, usually. It's a convenient location near the train stop and also right off Amboy.
I came for a bite later at night after work and there were only two waiters running the floors. It wasn't empty and there were perhaps two louder parties, one at the bar and one at the tables. So service felt a little sparse.
The food was mediocre but priced reasonably for the portions. It will fill you up. The gambas de ajillo were served lukewarm on a plate, contrary to how they would usually be served in hot oil. The pork skin quesadilla was filled abundantly with boiled pork skin. Do not order this if you are expecting a crunchy chicharron. The meat was well flavored, but the tortilla used was very thick. It held together well, though, and was expectedly filling. The sangria they have was a bit lacking in much punch of flavor.
Overall, not a bad place to satisfy some cravings.
