This place is truly a hidden gem on Staten Island! I visited on my birthday, and the staff made it special with a handwritten card at my seat. The food was incredible, with 70% of ingredients imported directly from Japan. The entire team was welcoming and friendly, and the service was outstanding. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great food and atmosphere.
I have never experienced Omakase style sushi experience before. Where you are served 1 piece at a time of the chef's determination based on what fresh fish is available. Although I thought it was a little pricey, it was worth every penny. Not something I could do often, but great for special occassion! This is the first omakase experience on the island, and that deserves recognition. The food scene in the island is constantly shifting with a lot of businesses that pop up and flounder within just a year or so. Here is to hoping things go differently for Omakase Ichi, as it certainly deserves a chance.
