We went for Father's Day dinner. We ordered the paella for 2 and were told the clams weren't fresh so they added more shrimp. We found the paella to be dry. There is no drink menu so the colorful drinks you see on their Instagram are no where to be found. Desserts are a little disjointed for a Spanish restaurant and weren't listed anywhere but they offer cannolis and tartufo which we didn't expect. Also, they put bread with dipping oil on the table and not the thin sliced potato chips that are offered in other Spanish restaurants. It's probably a one and done for us.
Ordered Father’s Day special 1/2 tray of Paella. Tasteless. Rice was watery and no spices at all shrimps boiled so is a mussels. Ordered side of of garlic oil all we tasted is garlic. No salt whatsoever in anything. They just opened and should try to get new customers. It’s once and done for us
A Must-Visit Gem in Staten Island!
Sazón at 286 Richmond Valley Road absolutely blew us away! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive without being overbearing.
We started with a variety of appetizers to share, and every single one was a hit. The Baked Clams were perfectly seasoned with breadcrumbs and herbs — fresh and flavorful. The Chorizo was rich and hearty, sautéed with garlic in a delicious white wine sauce that we couldn’t get enough of. The Stuffed Mushrooms with crabmeat were tender and packed with flavor, and the Fried Calamari was crisp and golden, paired with a choice of marinara sauces — we went with medium and it was the perfect level of heat.
For mains, we shared the Non-Seafood Paella for Two — loaded with juicy chicken on the bone and beef chorizo in a bold hot cherry pepper garlic sauce. Each bite was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. We also tried the Pollo Villeroy, which was a standout dish — stuffed with Manchego cheese and chorizo, and topped with a rich cognac mushroom sauce. Absolutely divine.
Everything was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and served with pride. Sazón is a true standout in Staten Island, and we will 100% be back for more. Highly recommend!
