Ended up coming here again with my parents. Outdoor dining area is very nice and I liked the food better the second time around. Would definitely recommend the grilled octopus salad-- vegetables were very fresh, tomatoes in particular tasted really good for some reason, and octopus was tender. Baked clams were also yummy. Also ordered the chicken scarpariello, which was a very sizable dish (my mom thought there was too much rosemary but I thought the seasoning was fine).

Truly a wonderful find. Everyone was so nice, warm and spoke Italian. The food was amazing. We had the Sunday gravy with homemade pappardelle and fresh mozzarella; grilled shrimp and calamari with grilled veggies; and a Caesar salad. The entrees were outstanding, the Sunday gravy sauce itself was very good and the sausage and meatballs were great. The Caesar salad was ok...the dressing and croutons didn't stand out. This is a great great spot for a meal, we felt like we were in Europe!!!! It is especially convenient to the Verrazano bridge -- and made the drive home from the jersey shore worth it. Trattoria Romana is destination dining!

I am so disappointed!!! Ordered the shell steak special and they are out, switched it for filet ordered medium rear got a weird piece of meat well done asked for it to be cooked the way I ordered and was told I didn't know what medium rare was . Like I can't tell the difference between brown and red... had to ask for water , waited more then anyone should for water . Reservations for for 6 people a 300+ bill and six people didn't even eat to stay for desert and had to go home hungry. What Italian EVER leaves a table hungry . Oh by they way the waiter said may we do t know how to order steak and we should order something else. With Covid making these businesses starving for business, this is one business we will NEVER return too.

So glad they're able to operate with such a nice outdoor seating area that's spaced out and feels safe. The staff is kind and treat you like family and food is always fresh and delicious.

This is Italian restaurant at its best. The food varies from pasta, fish, meat to many specials. They have a full bar also. They have lots of friendly help and you never have to wait long for anything even when crowded. Any of the staff will bring you what you want - no waiting for your own waiter. They will even prepare almost any dish if you have special requests.The deserts are typical Italian but excellent. Get there early or expect some wait.Parking can be a little issue some times but park on the street.
