Stopped by for an early dinner. The food is outstanding - the sushi is fresh and at a very reasonable price. I moved out east and miss good, quality sushi. I almost had a tear in my eye when I bit into the first piece, it was that good. The folks that work there are professional and friendly. Worth the hour drive, will gladly do it again soon.

Service was fantastic. Polite and very attentive. The sushi was just not good. The rolls were huge and complex. Flavors did not jive at all and as soon as you take one bite, the whole thing falls apart and makes a mess. The sushi needs a bit of work. The sushi is also very expensive. I don’t mind paying these prices if it was good. The atmosphere is nice in the main dining room and bar, but the Teppanyaki room is loud, very noisy and annoying. I will return to try it again and see. The bar was very nice and busy with a great bar tender making all her guests feel welcome.

How are people ok going here when its literally Kumo but a new name. Same menu, same food poisoning risk (AGAIN COULD HAVE KILLED A SMALL CHILD OR ELDERLY PERSON). People are stupid. NOT GETTING MY BUSINESS EVER AGAIN! EW, GROSS?

My wife and I went to Hirosaki, upon their grand opening for date night. The atmosphere was very welcoming and bright, the bar looked amazing. The mangers and staff were very polite and welcoming. My wife and I both had fresh sushi rolls and opted for the hibachi as our entrees. We’ve either ordered takeout out or been back every other week. Highly recommend!

Newly open Japanese restaurant. Do not order their matcha crepe cake.Recommendation: sashimiFood: I ordered a sashimi appetizer, a Hawaii bowl, and the Matcha crepe cake. They served two small salmon appetizers on the house, which is very sweet. One had edamame and mango (a bit ripe), and the other mixed with avocado was yummy. My sashimi appetizer includes crab stick, red snapper, tuna, and salmon. The Hawaii bowl contains fish roes and nuts with soy sauce flavor. It was a pleasant experience before going to the desserts section.Advantage: convenient location. Close to 347 and Stony Brook Road. < 10 mins to Stony Brook University.Disadvantage: Which deeply disappointed me was the matcha crepe cake. The price is 10 bucks, which is more expensive than regular price from local dessert shop. I was not sure why it is so expensive, so I gave it a shot. It turns out that the taste is very dry and hard, and the portion was small. I feel like they just unfroze some boxed crepe cake from oversea and the product dried out during the long trip. It does not worth 10 bucks.Parking: free parking lot with plenty space.Price: almost 50.
Ordered a plethora of dishes for take out for Valentines and was absolutely delighted. The fish was fresh and full of taste. I was extremely happy with the quality and the portions were generous for the price. I will definitely be ordering from here again. I haven't eaten in the restaurant, but will consider dining here for another night out.

Our first time back since they changed ownership. The inside has been updated and they added a nice touch with table lamps. I tried the Sushi Takosu Combo classic. It was like sushi tacos. Delicious! They gave us a complementary appetizer which is a nice touch. For dessert we ordered the fried ice cream.
