We had the buffet + cooked to order hot breakfast. My whole family loved it. But for me, the best part was that the three staff working went out of their way to help my daughter and I choose safe gluten free options to accommodate our celiac disease. My daughter especially was thrilled with all she could eat. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was absolutely incredible, especially our server named Alma. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Super slow service and kids were not offered kid menu. Customers who arrived later got served first.

Been there several times sometimes the food was salty. Whats worse almost every time one guy gave just one glass of water and not to refill it. What kind of service is that?

The food was very, not good, although the fish was obviously cooked too much. It was very tough. The calamari was outstanding the bartender/waiter was cool

Visited Northern Coast Kitchen & Cocktails for dinner. It a resturant inside the Hilton Garden Inn at Stony Brook lobby. Had a french onion soup and a cheese burger and sweet potato fries. Not a bad experience but a little odd atmosphere when entering the hotel and the resturant is part of the lobby. Good overall experience.

Food was ok, the strange and rude attitude of certain waiter ruin the experience. Hope I could tip the chef directly.

I ate 6 lunch and dinner meals here during an extended stay at Stony Brook U. I ordered different items every time. All tasted good.

Wonderful restaurant inside of the Hilton Garden Inn on the campus of Stony Brook University. Great service and a rotating menu. Weekly specials. Good drinks menu.

if you would like to call to make a reservation, be told that it’s “not necessary” but still insist on making one and then show up the day of and be told that they are closed (despite making a reservation), then this is the perfect spot. the worker on the phone should have said “it’s not necessary [because we won’t BE OPEN]”. what a joke.

Not much to say,
From the moment I walked in my gut sense told me to walk out, i should have listened.

The service was non existent and the food was a disappointment. My simple hamburger was burnt to a crisp (no exaggeration) and my side of sweet potato fries were so salty, I might as well have just ordered a side of salt with my burger.

Of course I didn’t dine alone. My brother for some reason tried the Banh Mi and it was the saddest meal ever. It came on the wrong type of bread but at least his meal also came with a side of salt!

A hilarious experience to say the least.

My husband and I have been coming to the Northern Coast Kitchen for a couple of years now and keep coming back because of the food, atmosphere, and most of all the bartender, Patty! She makes each stay welcoming and fun. She is a doll! We meet other “regulars” and they agree that it’s a great place to eat and meet new people. Our “go-to” food choices are the shrimp tacos, popcorn chicken, spinach salad with tuna, and the burger. We take advantage of the happy hour prices and love trying new desserts on the specials menu. We are very thankful we stumbled upon this place!

Stayed at the Hilton, had breakfast (French toast) and dinner here. Nice atmosphere, conveniently located if you’re on campus. The breakfast was pretty good, not bad price for a buffet either ($16). The dinner was better than I expected; I had the veggie burger, which sometimes restaurants don’t do very well, but I thought it was delicious. Good vegetarian and vegan options. The croissant beignets were astoundingly good. Servers seemed quite busy but I was eating on a busy night and the service didn’t suffer for it.

My fiancee and I have been going to Northern Coast since shortly after it opened, and it never disappoints. This place is the definition of a "hidden gem", being in the lobby at the Hilton Garden Inn on the Stony Brook campus (you don't need to be a student to go, but students get a discount IIRC). Although it's right adjacent to the lobby with little separation, it's much more than your standard hotel eatery with lots of great New American dishes and a warm, comfortable, unique atmosphere.I've tried several dinner items, and all have been great so far, with reasonable prices, sizeable portions, good variety of styles, all fresh-tasting and "made to order". But, if there's one thing I always go back to, it's the roasted chicken. The skin is so crispy and it has a buttery au-jus that's just divine. It comes with some sauteed string beans that are sweet and flavorful as well. I'd also like to mention the pork chops, brussels sprouts, and the peach melba dessert as well. The service never disappoints, and at least when we went, the vibe of the place is calm and quiet (even with being next to the hotel's front desk). I dig the melodic chill/deep house from the hotel lobby, and I also love the style of the place, it's got a clean, colorful look that feels very "90s tropical". Screens are around that rotate through pictures of the food items. We usually eat there pretty late (it's refreshing finding a place that will stay open till 10PM), so I could imagine this place gets a lot busier and noisier at other times (like around college orientation/graduation, or brunch).I love this place and think it's a great addition to the area. Definitely give it a chance if you're in town!
