Many thanks to Tim and Callie for bringing German flare to Stony Brook. German food and beer, and the convivial tradition of gathering with family and friends, are something special. We visited for my birthday dinner and were excited to try it.

The atmosphere is fantastic. The décor feels authentic, the beer selection is solid, and the live music was a great touch. The dining room staff were polite, attentive, and efficient. It’s clear the restaurant already has a loyal following.

That said, there were some areas that could be improved. Service at the bar was noticeably slow, even though it wasn’t particularly hectic at the time. Also, the website advertises happy hour from 3-6pm but does not specify that it’s weekdays only, which was a bit disappointing.

As for the food, it was decent but not memorable. We tried three types of schnitzel - all featured breaded meet and were not especially distinctive. The spätzle resembled regular noodles rather than the more rustic, irregular texture of potato-based authentic German noodles. The cabbage was tasty, though it didn’t have a clearly homemade feel. The German chocolate cake tasted like an average, mass-produced off-the-shelf cake.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, but the food felt average relative to the strong atmosphere and concept. With a bit more finesse and authenticity in the kitchen, this place could truly become a local gem.

We’ll plan to return in the future and are rooting for Schnitzels’ continued success.

This is the perfect place for lunch, dinner, or special occasion. The food is authentic, and delicious. The people that run and work at this restaurant are incredible, hospital, fun, and overall kind. Each time we eat here, a new family memory is made. Ask for Jay, he makes dining out an experience, the theme nights are so much fun.

Love going to Schnitzel’s every other Monday for the best trivia on Long Island, worth the trip every time! Friendly servers Lauren and Nick, and Lou who runs trivia is a gas! There are always fun events to bring friends and family to, or even somewhere you can meet some great people! Lou and crew are always running events Trivia, Music Bingo, Karaoke, Beer Stein competitions, sip and paints, and more! Schnitzel’s is always creating great community events for people to attend, come together and have fun, don’t be shy! That’s not to mention the great selection of food and beer. I often enjoy the Ferris wheel and cheese boards which have a great variety of apps, great for sharing. Plenty of German specialties, the eponymous Schnitzels and more. All sorts of German Beer served in great glasses and Steins appropriate for whichever beer you order. My friends and I love Schnitzels! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My husband and I had dinner tonight there after a show at the Staller Center and it was fantastic. Casey was our server and she went above and beyond for us. We ended up staying for another hour after paying the check just to chat with her. I’m so glad we stumbled upon this place after our show. If anyone is in the area, and would like a delicious meal with a wonderful staff, I would recommend schnitzel any day. We will back and I will be bringing my daughter.

First time I’m leaving a bad review. Was excited for this place but my crusted chicken schnitzel was not fresh. It was hard, dry and turning brown. Was in a rush so just paid and left. 100% was not freshly fried. Very disappointed. Atmosphere was cool and bartender was alright.

A historical Stony Brook surprise! The restaurant had all homemade German classics with a beautiful spread of beers served in steins big and large. Service was awesome. I highly recommend.

Uuuuhhg I hate writing negative reviews but this experience was ridiculous. Simple. I called in an order for a pastrami sandwich and cup of onion soup. I picked it up. No sweat. Got it home, opened my hard earned dinner, and REALLY??? When you think of a NY pastrami sammi you think you’ll bite into some MEAT. There was no more than 4 thin slices on a burnt tasting roll. It was awful and I felt insulted by a sandwich. The soup was good except for the solid glop of cheese. Sadly, I will never come back and I’m a local.
