I would like to share the top notch experience I had over the phone with the supervisor named TUBBY! I had basically called as
I wanted to get more information about potentially joining the outstanding team at Starbucks. Upon calling this amazing Sunnyside location Tubby is the one who picked up the phone. He was extremely friendly and warm from the moment I introduced myself.
I basically told him that I wanted to know more about careers opportunities at his location.
He informed me that they were fully staffed at the moment; however he literally guided me through the whole process of applying online and which store was potentially hiring at the best of his knowledge.
The whole time we were talking he was so eager to help and was not rushing to get off the phone and I’m quite sure he must have been busy as well.
Nonetheless he took the time to answer all my questions and kindly gave me all the pertinent information and details I needed in order to move forward with the application process and hopefully join the team.
I must say Tubby was by far the kindest supervisor I’ve ever encountered; especially because our interaction was virtual. He could have easily rushed off the phone or not have given me the time, respect, consideration and kindness that he did. I was completely touched by not only his level of professionalism but most importantly his kindness.
He truly deserves the biggest praise and round of applause because his eagerness to help and his overall aura was of an amazing leader and a beautiful human being! It is extremely rare nowadays to come across fantastic people such as Tubbby! The world needs more of him and I must say Starbucks is extremely lucky to have such a breathtakingly talented individual radiating kindness such as Tubby!
I can definitely tell that he will go extremely far in this great company and in life in general due to his wonderful work ethics and life values!
The fact that I took the time to write this very elaborate and detailed review about him from an interaction over the phone speaks so much volume about his character!
I would like for his higher ups to give him the recognition and praise he deserves because he truly made my day and made me want to join Starbucks even more!!!

A Tale of Two Starbucks: Cozy Haven vs. Arctic Outpost — Depending on Who’s Working....
This Starbucks has the potential to be a neighborhood gem—and on most days, it is. When a particular employee is not on shift, this location embodies everything a community coffee shop should be: spacious, welcoming, filled with natural light and warm conversation. The vibe resembles a university cafeteria—regulars linger with books and laptops, others pop in for their usual before heading out into the day. The music is thoughtful, the atmosphere cozy even in winter. I’ve taken photos on those days that show people relaxed, smiling, comfortable in light layers.
But there is one employee whose presence shifts the entire environment from cozy to cruel.
As soon as he clocks in, the air conditioning is cranked to what feels like 59°F—even when it’s 30° outside. The temperature plummets visibly. Patrons who moments earlier were settled in with coffee are now hunched in coats, hats, and scarves indoors. I’ve attached photos from today showing customers bundled up as if waiting on an outdoor train platform—inside a coffee shop. This is not comfort; it’s a health hazard and a clear violation of commercial building codes, which prohibit unnecessary AC use during freezing outdoor temperatures.
The contrast is not subtle. It’s systematic. On his shifts, we shiver. On other shifts, we thrive.
At other Starbucks locations, you take your hat and jacket off when you come in. Here when he’s working, if you plan on staying, you’d better bring a spare.
This isn’t about personal preference—it’s about consistent service and basic dignity. It’s also about energy waste and policy violation. Regional managers clearly aren’t monitoring conditions, because this individual operates like a despot—controlling the climate to his preference, regardless of customer well-being or company standards.
I am a Level 6 Google Local Guide with over 200,000 views on my reviews. I write not to vent, but to document. This store deserves better oversight. The regulars—who give this location its heart—deserve better treatment.
Until this is resolved, I can no longer recommend this location unconditionally. My two-star rating reflects the reality when this employee is present. When he’s not here, it’s a solid five.
The only “benefit” to his Arctic regime?
When you finally step outside, the freezing winter day actually feels… warmer.

We got here Sunday morning then my friend’s still sleepy he fell asleep while waiting for our drinks then the barista came to us and told me like you gotta wake my friend up I asked him why he said because this is not a hotel…

Don’t put 10pm closing if your gonna close at 9:20
This is the only reliable cafe chain left in NYC that you can actually study in versus go network and look cute in a cafe on a laptop.
You have to 10 plus minutes to get half and half. It seems like intentionally leaving the carafe empty You are charging over 4 dollars for coffee. I ended up going an espresso bar 3 blocks down.
I like starbucks but just because i like to drink a lot of coffee like 1-2 times a day to stay active

Today I paid $2.75 to use the bathroom 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yup I asked may I please your bathroom! No you have to buy something nothings free was what I was told I’ll remember that. Whomever was running that register at 12:00 9/4/25 should be reprimanded

First time at this Starbucks, and definitely will return. Batistas were really good and friendly. The design of this Starbucks is comfy and well lit! Most importantly, my drink and food were perfect!
