Atmosphere is standard... Nothing to write about at least it's clean! Service... What service. 2 ladies in the front just played with their phone/iPad... No smile, never came to take order or check in.... Food... The oyster pancake is so NOT what it's suppose to be.... Basically the batter is all on the perimeter then oyster (5-6) small ones and then fried scrambled eggs in the middle... The sauce covered the entire plate and SUPER sweet! Braised beef noodle soup EXTREMELY salty and the soup has a weird flavor that left a BAD taste in mouth! Also this place is VERY pricy... $18 for a bowl of noodle soup that is half full!
One of the most genuine Taiwanese restaurants in the region. All tasty. Remind me of all the good memories.
Wanted to like this restaurant because it’s so close to the pickleball court we go to in the weekends. The prices are high for mediocre Taiwanese food. The popcorn chicken was the only dish I can recommend.
Loved the food here. I would definitely want to come back and try more stuff.
Everything is actually perfect but sadly the price is too expensive like I cannot eat it often like 5 days a week. I wish they can lower the price so that we can go eat more because our family love their food a lot.
If you ever want to try stinky tofu, here's a place on Long Island that does it well. The tofu is fried and just stinky enough but not overwhelming. The rest of the stuff we ordered was also excellent. This restaurant has a big menu of Taiwanese staples and the service was very good. The staff was very accommodating to our vegetarian preference. They were out of some appetizers but did provide some good suggestions. The snow cabbage +bean curd sheets+ edamame dish was excellent. They also made us a dish of stir fried bamboo shoots with peppers that was slightly spicy and very tasty. Will definitely come back to try other things on the menu.
The food is too oily and made with too much sauces. And they’re way over pricing. Give everyone a heads up. What they ask you pay is not gonna match what you see on the website. Especially if you take out. I didn’t even get the receipt, I realized after when I got home.
We order from Eatery 19 quite often because my child is absolutely in love with their dish, Sliced fish w. Sweet & Sour Sauce. Their food is consistently good and authentic. Service is friendly and they even offer special family meal for Lunar New Year.
As a Taiwanese, I’m always looking for authentic food that reminds me of home… let me tell you Eatery 19 is one of the BEST you can find in NY. I’ve tried everywhere from NYC, to Queens, to LIC, to Brooklyn— this is by far THE BEST. Here are my top recs :
1. Beef noodle soup (I always ask for chili oil and harder noodles!)
2. Pork Chop Bento
Hypertensives and Diabetics beware!!
I try not to give bad reviews, but hopefully the owner takes my criticism as constructive to improve and address the issues I had. I’m going to make comparisons to Taiwanese Gourmet in Elmhurst (in my photo posts) and Nan Bei Ho as I have been going there for the last 30+ years for Taiwnese food.
First off, the food, most looks and tastes like authentic Taiwanese, but some dishes may have been altered to cater to the local demographics.
My issues!
Food was either very salty or very sweet. Too heavy handed with seasoning maybe.
The pork chop with salt and pepper was made with spoiled meat. The chef knew that and tried to hide the flavor and smell. This is suppose to be a dry dish, since it’s fried and then just tossed in a wok with garlic, chilis, salt and pepper. But when we got it, was slightly wet, the chef put a splash of soy sauce and or a dash of black vinegar with some extra five spice powder to hide the spoiled meat flavor. The meat tasted sour with the rancidness that spoiled pork has. I’m quite the foodie and food connoisseur as I cook myself (and my dad, RIP, was a chef).
The spicy beef and tendon noodle soup, too salty (heavy handed with the soy sauce) and the chili paste they used overpowered the dish. It made my taste buds shut down.
Originally we ordered the pork stomach and pickled vegetables but they ran out of the pork stomach. So we ordered the spicy diced chicken (laziji) 辣子雞丁. I was so not expecting it to be so wet and saucy when it came. And to top it off, it was more sweet than spicy. Look at photos I posted.
And finally the 3 Cup Chicken. I enjoyed this one the most but it was very sweet as well.
Prices are a bit high with the portions they serve, I understand that the cost may have gone up, but I think they should look for another supplier that would want their business and offer competitive pricing compared to their current supplier. As rents in Flushing and Elmhurst is probably higher and they are able to keep their prices consistantly as low as possible.
Had no issues with service and atmosphere. I don’t really care about those things as I feel it is the food that would make me want to return and it makes or breaks the deal. I can’t say that I will return again, unless they can address the issues I pointed out and be more consistent with their food.
At this time, I can’t justify the closer 7 mile drive for me to Eatery 19, compared to the 25 miles drive to Taiwan Gourmet in Elmhurst or 22 miles drive to Nan Bei Ho in Bayside Queens. I really want to like this place, but the food just didn’t meet up to my expectations.

I bought three orders of pork chop over rice to go. This isn’t the first time I had results like this. Over 9 months ago, the pork chop over rice wasn’t so bad it was around 4-5 stars and cheaper. Recently the price has gone up the portion size has gotten smaller and the pork chop was dry as hell.
