Cavalier Room Reviews
During a career that has kept me on the road for decades as a touring musician, I have logged more hotel nights and endured more “continental breakfasts” than I care to count. Buffets blur together after a while. This one did not. And the reason is Madee.
I was seated at the far table in the M-Club of the Syracuse Marriott Downtown when, precisely at 6:15 a.m., the door from the back of the house opened. Before a single chafing dish appeared, it was already clear that...read full review

The Cavalier Room is an interesting, historic hotel that has undergone renovations, but still has some areas that need improvement. The rooms are described as average, with dated furniture and inconsistent cleanliness - one guest found spoiled hummus in the fridge and hairs in the bathroom upon arrival. The rooms also seem to have issues with accuracy, as one guest booked a larger room with a sofa bed but was given a standard room without the promised amenities.
The hotel's service is a mixed bag, with some positive experiences, such as prompt valet service and good food from room service, but also some notable disappointments. One guest had a poor check-in experience, with unhelpful staff and a lengthy wait time, while another observed front desk staff engaged in arguments with customers. The M-Club lounge breakfast was also lacking, with limited options and no bread available.
Despite these issues, the hotel's historic charm and renovations are appreciated, with the lobby described as "gorgeous." The on-site Irish pub, Shaughnessy's, also receives high praise for its great food, drinks, and live music. Overall, the Cavalier Room seems to be a mixed bag, with the potential to provide a good experience, but needing more consistent attention to detail and customer service.
