Whoa, was not expecting the food here to be this fabulous! Unassuming venue, friendly staff, seconds from our lodge:) Loved it! The $8 prosecco was a bonus🥂Highly recommend the vegan cheesesteak, amazing!
I wish I could leave five stars but the app will not let me because the restaurant is not fully vegan. The owner was incredibly friendly and replaced a sandwich containing meat with the best vegan cheese steak I've ever eaten! My wife had a hearty vegan soup and an enormous falafel salad. Tremendous experience. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-09
Lots of options for vegans! Staff knows what’s vegan and not. Also pretty affordable. My non vegan friends also enjoyed their food. Friendly staff that took time to talk to us and nice atmosphere.
Very yummy and tasty food a lot of gluten free options overall great

Fate would have it that my original plans for a pizza spot would lead me to Brave the Flames.
Upon entering we were amazed at the small, yet cozy ambiance this location offers. The location was busy, but felt as if we were invited to a relatives house as the owner himself greeted us and introduced us to the menu.
We were greeted with a wide array of options. What’s even better is that many of the plants and meats used are picked the day of and from high quality sources. To our surprise, this place even offers halal options! ( Lamb and Chicken Platters ).
Food and beverages were delivered fresh and promptly. The entrees and appetizers tasted amazing! While eating the owner took the time to personally greet each customer and ensure they were satisfied.
I have shared this location with my friends and plan to come back again if I go hiking nearby.

My husband and I came to get away from the busy city and found this place on the way to our destination. Food was delicious (got the burger with onions and fish sandwich with fries), atmosphere was so welcoming and cozy and the service was friendly and top tier.

What a wonderful surprise -- surprise because I couldn't figure out how the name relates to the menu... I expected a barbecue joint and instead happily found that the menu was based mostly on sandwiches, burgers and build-your-own bowls with plenty of options for our family -- one a vegetarian, one who is lactose intolerant and one gluten intolerant and me, who (sadly) eats everything.... Truly delicious food with quality ingredients at a very reasonable price. I personally had the lamb cubes on wild rice with humus, chickpeas, cucumbers and onions all topped with a yogurt sauce and a spicy harissa sauce. Bursting with flavor and texture. We will be back often!

We came here for dinner and the staff was so great about accommodating my wife’s gluten allergy. My wife was able to get fried shrimp on rice and was so happy. All the food was amazing and very large portions. I promise you won’t go hungry here. Price is right and quite affordable. We will be coming back here whenever we come through town.

Tannersville is blessed with some great places to eat, but BTF takes the crown. This is where you want to go for your lunch break, or on your way back from a day at Hunter. The basmati rice platters are every bit as tasty as the best halal carts in NYC, and probably even better considering the freshness of the ingredients. Sure, the ones in NYC might be a few bucks cheaper but if you're looking to refuel after a long day on the slopes (or at 11am after a long night at Slopes) you simply wont find a better value in the area.
The owner, Chris is a local and a trained chef who has presided over some of the best kitchens and BBQ in the country. He cares about the product he's putting out and it shows, both in the food itself and in the steady following this place developed in only the first few months after opening.
