Started coming here after living close by in pearl River, Mexican bean soup with rice very good , just Ed picked up the Indian restaurant lentil soup will try soon ,and their baked Goods are excellent . Great neighborhood bakery & cafe restaurant! I was looking for something different for office lunch when I stumbled upon Mimi's Plate. They are more of a dine-in place and NOT an efficient office lunch take out place because it took a long hold time on the phone to place the order for the office of 7 people. So be warned.
When I went to pick up the food, place was buzzing with energy. They had nice case full of baked goods and staff all looked busy but energetic. I saw that there was a whole dining area to the left (doesn't look like it from outside!) that was PACKED with happy lunchers! The cashier let us know that they open Saturdays for amazing brunch, so I made a mental note to try.
Onto the food... #7 Turkey sandwich (5/5, Main) - Delicious. Juicy, fresh-tasting turkey piled high and dense (like sando is HEAVY...) with cheddar, grilled onions and Russian dressing. Hello! Seriously packed that homey flavor but better. Crowdpleaser. #8 Turkey meatloaf w/ cheddar sandwich (3/5, Main) - My order because I'm a sucker for meatloaf. It turned out to be slightly dry but I suppose you can't make it too saucy if it's going on a sando. It also had nice heft but ended up being a bit too heavy and one-dimensional. #7 was better. Indian Red Lentil Soup (3/5, Side) - Something to wet our palate (literally). Homey flavor, but not a standout.
We tried ordering one more time and office agreed that this place isn't good for office lunch because they had no online order and because they're too busy with customers, both time we had to wait like 10 minutes and then the person did not speak very well and just took a long time and a mistake in the order. But I'm sure that dine-in is going to be a different story!
If you want a homey Russian-style cafe food from a passionate Russian lady chef, give this lovely neighborhood cafe a visit. You won't be disappointed!

5 stars, but can we please give Mimi’s Plate 10 stars!? Mimi’s Plate is by far the best breakfast & brunch spot in the area, hands down. Since they were serving breakfast all day, I decided to try the blueberry pancake special, although from all of the other options, it was a tough choice! I must say, that Mimi’s blueberry pancakes were by far the best! The pancakes were not only light, fluffy & plentiful, they were chock full of fresh, warm, whole blueberries, and were simply delicious! All of the lunch specials such as the soups and sandwiches are savory, healthy & delicious! The dessert selection is incredible! The atmosphere at Mimi’s Plate is cozy, yet elegant and the staff are so kind, and personable! Do visit Mimi’s Plate while visiting Tappan, NY!
Parking: Weekends can be busy, and the free parking lot may be full, but the town allows free 4 hour street parking in certain spots.

Where do I begin?!? Mimi’s plate deserves 10+++ in star rating! Mimi catered my bothers memorial service last week and it was beyond my expectations! The food was wonderful, the wait staff were excellent and so attentive (thank you Susan & Sphen) and Mimi was a delight to work with! Mimi was so patient with me working through the menu, she listened to what I wanted and suggested many different options. I was so impressed with everything Mimi did for me, the food, the setup, the wait staff, it truly was a great experience and I definitely would recommend Mimi for any of your catering needs!
Also, my Goddaughters wedding was catered by Mimi and it was fabulous!
As an added note, my husband went into the cafe to pay Mimi and came home with an array of goodies….turkey meatloaf, quiches, crab cakes, scones and more! We loved it all and we will definitely go back to get more goodies.

ABSOLUTELY LOVEEEE this place!! Everything is delicious and you can tell its all made with so much love and passion. I recommend trying the brownies with nuts, so gooey and honestly one of the best brownies ive ever had. The caramelized onion dip is a favorite! i 10000% recommend going to this place, you will not regret it. The owner and staff are welcoming and friendly, overall will make you want to keep coming back for more.

We just stumbled onto this place and were SO happy with the lunch. I had avocado toast with poached eggs. Every ingredient was fresh and flavorful. You can tell the eggs were very fresh, the fresh spinach was not overdone and the sprouts were brilliant. I also had an apple tart that was just the right amount of sweetness and crunchiness; not overdoing the brown sugar topping. When in town; I plan to visit again.
