Great food and a serious historical location. Chateaubriand was top notch. Dessert torte was likewise excellent. Staff was friendly. My only complaint was the live music was too loud. I'm a musician and would never have my levels that high. Was difficult to have a conversation.

My sister and I happened upon this place awhile back. Stopped in for a cocktail one Sunday afternoon and we're amazed. A lovely jazz singer was performing. She was incredible!!! We decided to come back for dinner this past Saturday night. I can't say enough about the Service. Our Waiter, Joe, was incredible. His knowledge about the place was fascinating....my brother in law, being a history buff, as well as my sister and I were so impressed. Joe suggested menu items to us and I have to say he was dead on.....my scallops were done to perfection...my brother in laws steak AMAZING...my sisters Crab Cake was delicious...then to our surprise..there was a Brazilian Jazz guitarist performing, who was so incredible we stayed for dessert and Cafe. Nice Crowd, wonderful Ambiance....we will certainly be back. Thanks Joe for making our night so special!!! Hope to see you again soon!!!

America's oldest tavern, where the first president, George Washington, frequented. It is also designated as a national historic building. The original building was apparently built in the 1680s, but it has been beautifully preserved, showing that this shop has been loved by many people for hundreds of years. The inside of the store is filled with paintings, writings, costumes, and more, making it feel like a small museum and making it fun. We were also able to rent costumes and take photos.I visited on a weekday for lunch, and all the food was delicious. In particular, the fish and chips and chicken hot pie were delicious! And it's great that it's not too expensive. This restaurant is highly recommended for both the atmosphere and the food.Kid-friendliness: The store is spacious, the staff is friendly, and you can feel at ease even with children.

We had our rehearsal dinner at 76 House of few weeks back and it was absolutely perfect. Thank you to the entire staff and Elisa for making our evening perfect. We hosted our families ( about 30 of us ) in the corner room with the blue and white fireplace. All the out of towner's and some of the locals who hadn't been in a while fell in love with the history and the food. And the live music was great! Whether you're having a casual dinner for two or your entire family the 76 House is a great place to spend the evening. Thank you all!

Really wonderful atmosphere and amazing history! Food was decent but the prices are astronomical for what you get. A $19 small kids plate of plain pasta is just criminal. Portions are very small so to pay this much for so little makes it very unlikely my family will be able to return.
