There was such hype about this restaurant, but it was less to be desired. The food was mediocre. My entree, the salmon with vegetables, was ok, but then I found a long hair on my plate under the vegetables. Personally, once this happens, I lose my appetite completely, however they brought a new plate but by the time they did, my family was almost done eating. My experience in other restaurants which I frequent often in Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island typically deduct that entree off the bill if something like that happens. It's just so unfortunate because we were all looking forward to trying this restaurant, but it just didn't meet the expectations that were set by others.

First time trying Rabbit and it was GREAT!
For the both of us. Burrata with Black Truffle and Tomato.
I had the braised Rabbit w/ White Wine and Porcinni Mushrooms
She had the Ravioli Tartufuto w/ White Shitake, Cream and Truffle Oil.
Service was very professional! We had reservations so there was no wait.
It was an awesome meal!

Bistro 12 has a cozy, warm atmosphere with a nice view of Music Hall across the street. The owners are welcoming, the service is good and there's a nice variety of menu selections. Especially since the prices are so high, the food could use some improvement. It would be nice to see larger pieces of fresh seafood in the risotto, the butternut squash soup was too watery and could use some more seasoning and half of the short ribs were full of fat and grizzle making the dish greasy and inedible. Too bad!

Amazing experience! I’d never been to a restaurant that serves only Portuguese only food. I actually thought it was French when I made the reservation, but I’m so glad I chose it. The owners were lovely, and our group of five was treated to a complimentary dessert wine after dinner, it was strong like a bourbon or brandy, but sweet and smooth with a honey flavor. Absolutely delicious. Everything the food, atmosphere, and service was phenomenal.

Nice restaurant. I had curry monk fish. Not a flavor combination I enjoyed. I love curry and monk fish separately but together it did not work for me. My wife had Portuguese cod. Liked very much. I found prices a bit high but Terrytown is not a cheap town.

My husband and I had a most delightful dinner. Michel the owner welcomed us like into his home. Excellent wine recommendation with our dinner. All staff efficient and attentive to our needs. Octopus appetizer, Pasta Bolonase delicious and generous. The venue itself is charming, with Michels own artwork as decor.
We were visiting from out of town, otherwise this would be a favorite to frequent.
