Thank you to the staff at Ryan's Wake for helping to make our recent retirement party perfect from start to finish.
Emily was courteous and so responsive to all of our questions. Never before have we worked with someone who made the accommodations so easy.
The space was gorgeous - perfectly comfortable.
Even upon arrival, they continued to accommodate our last minute requests. Helped with decor. Took photos. Whatever we asked. Just wonderful customer service.
The food was fresh and timely. Kept stocked as people continued to eat. We never needed to ask for more. It was just there.
When we had questions at clean up, long after the party had ended, again, they were there to help and accommodate.
The entire experience was so simple and perfect.
We couldn't possibly recommend Ryan's Wake more highly.
Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

This review is three months overdue, but so incredibly deserved.
We held a celebration of life for my mom here in October, and I’ll always be grateful for the care and kindness shown to our family. Traveling in from California and unsure where to gather our NY family and friends, this came highly recommended by my cousin, and it could not have been more perfect. From the start, the team made everything feel easy, even from 3,000 miles away. Charlotte was especially thoughtful and attentive day-of, and the bar staff took wonderful care of my siblings and me (never an empty glass).
They truly had everything covered. Music hookup, microphone for stories and speeches, and a seamless slideshow throughout. They helped make a very hard moment feel lighter and full of love. Absolutely worth going out of my way to say thank you!

I cannot say enough about Ryan’s Wake. I recently needed to coordinate a post-bereavement gathering following a funeral and we were coming in from out of town. I reached out to six different restaurants, and Ryan’s Wake stood out far and away as the most seamless, thoughtful, and professional experience from start to finish.
From scheduling and planning to pricing, menu selection, and logistics, the entire process was effortless. The management team— Chris, Jared, and Charlotte—went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly so our family didn’t have to worry about a single detail during an already emotional time. The bartenders were equally accommodating, kind, and attentive.
The food was outstanding—nothing like the typical appetizer spread you might expect at this type of gathering. Everything was scratch-made, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The owner Chris, clearly is doing something right. Every staff member knew their role, worked seamlessly together, and never missed a beat. Despite multiple events happening simultaneously and the other side of the restaurant being open to the public, our gathering felt private, intimate, and completely uninterrupted.
We also dined in the main area the night before for dinner since we were staying nearby. Seven of us ordered off the regular menu, and once again, the food was scratch-made, hot, and exceptional. This is not your average bar food by any stretch—Ryan’s Wake far exceeds that expectation. By far the best burger in Troy. The tacos were also outstanding.
Ryan’s Wake delivered warmth, professionalism, and exceptional quality when it mattered most. I’m incredibly grateful to the entire team and would recommend them without hesitation—for events or simply a wonderful meal.

Great time with really good food. One room (to the right when you come in) is very noisy but the other room is fine. Clean. Friendly staff. Reasonable food prices.

Ryan's Wake is a typical college bar; however, it secretly goes far beyond that. They have created a space in the back of their premises that can be reserved for private parties and gives the feel of renting out an entire historic bar for your event. The fees are very reasonable, and the packages are designed to easily do the math in order to price out tickets or figure out your total. The food is exceptional; trendy and flavorful. Nothing weird, but not boring. The packages have multiple options that help you to create a menu that works best for you. The staff is also amazing. Very caring and attentive. Emily was wonderful to work with and AJ is a great bartender with a lot of knowledge. A large container of ice water sits at the end of the bar to help folks stay hydrated while sipping. Drink prices are also very reasonable. In addition, there is a back deck which is accessible to the entire crowd, but it has a great view of the Hudson and the Green Island Bridge all lit up at night. If you are looking for a great venue for your event AND with decent parking options for a downtown location, this is it.

I expect a burger in a pub to be top notch. It wasn’t. The fries were nothing to write home about either.

We did a class reunion for approximately 80 classmates, and I can't say enough positives about the venue. The staff from the kitchen to the wait staff and the bartenders went above and beyond to ensure our event was perfect all the way around. I would strongly recommend this venue as it was ideal for a social gathering for our all of our classmates. Our entire class is still talking about how great this event was. KUDOS to all of your staff and we will see you at our next reunion.

THANK YOU TO WHO EVER GAVE THE HEART REACTION. I WILL PROBABLY NOT GET CREDIT FOR IT. I TRY VERY HARD IN MY REVIEWS. I AM NOT SURE I WILL WRITE ANY MORE. Yesterday, I visited Ryan's Wake, with my wife. It is a very neat, expansive restaurant pub. There is a main front bar (photo) and a patio bar (photo). The patio is very nice and surprisingly quiet with a picturesque view of the river and the Green Island Bridge . Our waitress, Erin, was very pleasant, upbeat, and attentive. A couple other waitresses stopped by during our stay. My wife had a Margarita, which she liked. I had my usual, a beer and a diet soda. They had a short beer (12 oz.), which is always a plus for me. We both had burgers, which were very good. My wife likes hers medium and it DID arrive that way. I prefer well done, which it was, while still being moist. (Photo - partially eaten- could not help myself). The entire staff was friendly. Chris Ryan (photo), was a pleasure to meet. He was very cordial and amicable. Ryan's Wake has reasonable prices and is worth the trip. We shall return.
