Cannot recommend this place enough! I’ve stayed in the inn twice now, and it’s my favorite place ever. The food in the restaurant is phenomenal and the service is incredibly friendly.

Loved this this place! Our first time visit was on a Thursday evening without a reservation—it got busy and we soon learned why—the food was spectacular. Fresh and inventive menu items along with some more traditional choices. Local ingredients and a balanced selection of wines and canned beers/ciders (not a full bar). Our orders were all from that day’s specials. Shishito pepper app with fresh apple and radish balanced with teriyaki glaze and a fantastic creamy aioli.
The mussels in a creamy wine sauce with chorizo and jalapeños was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had. The scallops with fennel and sambuca sauce were amazing. The restaurant is in a converted inn. Service was excellent and their kitchen staff knows their craft!

I searched for a great caterer within a 15 mile radius of Lake Placid. After talking with chefs and sampling food from many places we chose the Ice Jam Inn. Chef Zack worked with us and made excellent suggestions on how to make our wedding celebration meal a success. Our guests raved about the food especially the bacon wrapped scallops, grilled chicken florentine and burrata ravioli in vodka sauce. They delivered everything hot and on time. Thanks again Chef Zack! Ten stars!

Ice jam restaurant should be the top of your list if you’re looking for great food. As with all great establishments make sure you get a reservation ahead of time. Its quaint atmosphere fills fast!

We stopped in for dinner without a reservation, hoping to enjoy the Ice Jam Inn for the first time. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we had reservations. We did not, and were told they were “fully committed.” The dining room did not appear full, and unfortunately no alternative was offered — not porch seating, a waitlist, or even a to-go option.

I understand the importance of reservations and kitchen pacing, but as someone who has worked in restaurants, I know there are often creative ways to accommodate a live, willing customer. Even if seating wasn’t possible right away, a friendly explanation and an option to wait would have left a much better impression.

Sadly, we left feeling turned away rather than welcomed, which is not what I expected in such a small, charming town. I hope the restaurant considers offering more flexibility or communicative options in the future, as first impressions matter — especially for new guests.

Delicious. My husband had the seafood chowder and said it was the best he's ever had. For a boy from New Hamshire who was brought up on lobster breakfast lunch and dinner, he was surprised to find such amazing seafood at the compete opposite end of the atmosphere. We all enjoyed out meal very much. Reasonable items for kids, sandwiches for every budget and wonderful daily specials for a nice splurge. Definitely worth a stop.

Just had a great meal and we only ordered the specials. Started with the chicken corn chowder and the Barata and they were very good. The entrées we had were the chicken pesto sandwich and the hanger steak. Unfortunately they came out and we just started eating so there are no pictures of them. Or a brownie sundae as a special with fresh strawberries and blueberries drizzled caramel. It was a Very enjoyable meal.
