I've read some reviews about folks being angry about frosting touching the top of their containers and I just don't think that's fair. Get over it, people. The food is fantastic.

GREAT COSTUMER SERVICE!!
I have always seen the same two nice young ladies on weekends and they always treat me and other costumers nicely. Let me not say anything about the different varieties of cheese?!? They always give me good advice and info about cheese even some free samples! I’m glad party moons are still a thing, greetings to whoever makes them they look awesome!
I have so many good memories from Hemstrought with my grandparents and closer relatives, every time I walk in they greet me with a smile and it reminds me of the good old times!
Great place and people, keep it up Hemstrought!

I read reviews and you can’t blame the bakery for half moon frosting being stuck to the top when shipped. I would guess (?) that the package got tossed around with perhaps other items landing on top. I found the half moons and bread nothing more than fresh and delicious. Big thumbs up 👍

It is tricky to get to if not using main road! All the bakery items seemed fresh and tasty!

Best bread in Utica. My husband and I could finish a loaf in a day. Yummy bakery goods and sandwiches too. I love the quality of their food and the taste is to die for.

What's there not to love about Hemstrought's? The almond croissants are delicious, and of course, they have the best half-moon cookies.

Stopped here yesterday (5/30/25) while driving through and got some bread, half moon cookies, and a pretzel. The Italian bread and pretzel was very good, but we found a piece of plastic in the half moon cookie. Must be lacking some quality control for that to happen as it was a very big piece. Won’t be coming back.

My out of state family loves half moons so I placed an order on December 17 for before Christmas delivery. The order was temporarily "lost". I got a call, there was a problem with my credit card - the employee spelled my name wrong. That oder didn't go out because I was told there were no vanilla bottoms. I was promised overnight shipping to arrive New Years Eve. They were not shipped, but they had my money. I made daily calls, requesting a call back for over a week. To date, my calls have never been returned. I got my money back through my bank card, they made no effort to refund my money. What a headache.
Terrible, terrible service.

Very disappointed. I have very fond memories of half moon cookies at family gatherings over the years. Attempted to make a large order for delivery over the holidays. After multiple phone calls and emails (with promises of shipments, re-shipments, and refunds), I have received nothing. Hemstrought still has my money, however.
I don't think there is anything they can do to rectify the situation and recover their reputation.
Will not be giving them my business in the future.

Small but the ham breakfast croissant was delicious. The half moons weren’t as good as my mother’s but she is quite the baker. I didn’t love the chocolate frosting on the half moon but I did enjoy the vanilla frosting. I bought 4 for $5.

Very good moon pies. But don't mistake the cute little almond bites for samples like I almost did. $3 a pop. I almost popped it right in my mouth till my man saw the sign. 😬

Ordered cookies the middle of December to be delivered by Christmas eve. Paid $30 delivery fee for overnight, never received. Finally got someone to get back to me who guaranteed they would reship them on this past Monday. Nope, never did! Noone returning my emails or messages!

Back in town for the holidays for the first time in years, HAD to come to Hemstroughts for half moons and fresh bread. I went at 7 to get the freshest choices and could not smell any fresh bread. I asked the woman at the counter if the bread was still warm and she said yes, bought a French baguette and sourdough and both were cold to the touch and not fresh and crispy. She told is the cookies were made today, also obviously not made today. No need to lie about your product, tell us it's all old and we can find another bakery or make it at home. Super disappointing visit. Won't be on my "must do" list next time we visit.
