A different take on pizza. Fast, friendly service and a great pizza. Will definitely go back the next time we pass thru Utica.

Here's the thing. The reason we wanted go was the exact reason why they get 1 star. Thought supporting a 100+ year old family business would be nice. And got great reviews. They are beyond rude. Arrogant. Went out of my way to go for my birthday and they are horrible. Skip. Run. Don't go.

This is the oldest pizza parlor, and Utica. It's known for upside down pizza pie. It's a Utica staple because it's totally delicious.

O'Scugnizzo's offers a pizza like no other. The pizza sauce is on top of the pizza and with cheese and other toppings underneath. Some call it upside down pizza, it should just be called "Great!" There is a reason this place has been open for over 100 years and is the second oldest pizzeria in the US.The chicken riggies are also another unique Utica regional food which is a must try. Restaurant service was very good and staff was friendly. Make sure to see the photos of the original owner of the restaurant from 1914. This place a must stop if you are visiting Utica.Parking: The restaurant has it's parking lot and it looks like you can park for free on the streets near it.

I grew up in Utica, we would only eat pizza here after 2 AM, when most other places were closed. It's kinda tasty, but soupy with the sauce on top. Tasted pretty good eaten off the trunk of a car when drink. I wouldn't bother going here sober.

We were looking for a place for dinner after crossing the border and stopping for the night. I saw that Dave Portnoy came here and encouraging everyone to come here because it was one of the oldest pizza establishments. I had to give this place a try. We came here for dinner, so it was dark and we weren't able to see how the neighborhood looks in the daytime. LOL. The restaurant inside is bigger than it looks, with the place being split into two separate areas. The ordering area is very narrow, with the space consisting of a drink refrigerator and the ordering counter. The dining area greatly resembles a cafeteria, with the tables being green and rectangular and the booths and chairs being hard instead of soft. The walls are also gray and adorned with framed pictures while in the back, you can see stacks of empty pizza boxes on a table. We placed our order at the front and went to get a table and were told that we paid afterwards. We ordered a large meatball and cheese sub and a large pizza. I was a little disappointed with the pizza because the crust was pre-baked and they put tomato sauce on top of it. It reminded me of Sbarros. But, the sauce was pretty good, though. It tasted a little sweet. The meatball sub was pretty good. I thought it was better than the pizza. Service was pretty fast. When we got there, most of the tables were taken and we thought it was going to be a long wait. Turned out most of the tables were done with their dinner and just hanging out. I'm glad that we got a chance to come here and give it a try.

Our visits to Utica usually involves a Utica Style Cheese on the Bottom Pizza. Out regular stop didn't have any at lunch time so we found O'Scignizzo. It's very casual and old school Pizzaria feel. The folks that took out order were super friendly and we had some good laughs. The pizza was great. Not too saucy and a generous amount of cheese. Really enjoyed the pizza and will go back again.
