Ordered roast turkey which was the Sunday special they served some sliced meat that may have contained turkey but tasted old and freezer burned ended up not eating most of it. Salad was browned on the edges . Had acorn squash on the side with was barely warm and served with a sweet cinnamon sauce over it would have preferred it plain. Soup was good only good thing we had. We will not be coming back

Take a break is a quiet diner with plenty of room inside.
The staff is nice and the atmosphere is calm.
I got some cake and cannolis from the dessert counter and took them home. The cannolis were really good. The outside crust wasn't crispy but it maintained its structure and flavor. The texture became similar to a sweet flatbread. I loved it!
The cake I had tasted good. It had all the right ratios of flavor and cake to frosting balance. But one thing made me dislike it.
The cake, unfortunately was pretty dry and stale. It gave me the impression that Take a Break's desserts aren't baked fresh daily. I don't hold that against them, baking can be hard and tedious, especially in prepping. The cakes are really big and pretty too. I'm certain whomever bakes the desserts works really hard. I appreciate their labor.
If I might make a suggestion. Maybe instead of one big cake they can make two smaller ones. Serve one cake, and reserve half the batter to make the second fresh cake later? I'd rather see my favorite desserts sold out and wait for a fresh one. :)

I order the pancakes rolled up with fruit. For some reason. I thought it would be fresh fruit and not a fruit topping or filling for a cake. Now, I know to avoid it unless I’m looking for pie-filling stuffed pancakes. I took them home to my aunt who, despite being like only 100 pounds, has quite the sweet tooth. She ate them right up. I ordered the eggs and bacon for myself instead. This was delicious, I will stick with savory options.
Parking: Lots of parking.
Kid-friendliness: It’s a diner; families are welcome.

Our favorite in the area ?
We started going there after moving from NYC, I believe it was sold twice since then. It was amazing in 2007, then somewhat ok, and now good.
I remember the old atmosphere, it was busy, waitresses were running, there was a line to get in . The decor was interesting with a giant ship in the opening between 2 rooms. I wish this diner regained its popularity.
P.S.
Please don't charge $8 extra for lox on eggs Benedict instead of Canadian bacon ?

We arrived for lunch, though I chose breakfast for myself. It was nice knowing that both lunch and breakfast were available about 1pm. There was seating available as the Sunday rush was starting to disappear.
I had pancakes and eggs breakfast. The bacon and sausage was cooked together which actually made it that much better. The pancakes were pretty good too, nothing amazing but definitely something I would make a 2nd trip for.
My wife had the broccoli stuffed chicken breast. It was good though the chicken was slightly dry. Served with a simple flavored rice.
We also had a piece of the chocolate cake to finish off brunch. The flavor was all there as one would hope but the cake was slightly dried out (just slightly still worth eating) which can happen to refrigerated cakes. They had plenty of other desserts that I'd like to try when I return, and I will return.
As strange as it seems I enjoyed the booths. They were soft and stiff at the same time. Sometimes you sit and sink all the way through so you're sitting on the board, or sometimes there's no padding and you're sitting on a board anyway. Either they're new or they don't make them like they used to!
Overall staff was friendly, food was good, and the atmosphere was welcoming without being something to write home about.

We’ve had Take a break many times before and we keep coming back for more. The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable here. If the place is busy it may take a minute to get your food but the staff is always friendly and asking if they can get anything for you while you wait. We’ve had breakfast and lunch here and they are both good. We are usually filled up when we leave but the desserts in the case always look delicious someday we will have to give them a try.

Our group went there for breakfast but two had sandwiches. All meals were very good and our waitress was attentive and accommodating. The eggs and pancakes were cooked perfectly. Based on the patrons this place isn't a secret.... definitely worth the trip on our way out of town.

I took my 92 yr old mom here for lunch and the waitress Donna was exceptional..so nice and checked on us alot. The food is great tasting..you get a lot of it too..coffee is so good too. I love the atmosphere here. So clean and bright.. this is my 4th time eating here and never was i disappointed. Only drawback. It's a little too cool in there so bring a sweater.

Super overpriced!!! Spent over $40 for the two of us to have a sub-par lunch - $4.50 for an unsweetened iced tea?? I could have gotten a better meal, atmosphere, & service for the same price at an actual restaurant!! Only went because Skylark was closed & I will not be back!
