Great brunch - a big selection of food.

I ordered steak and eggs, the steak was tough to chew, asked for over easy eggs, they were well done hardly any yolk. Toast was cold and had to ask for butter which took forever. Why do you constantly have to ask for a refill for water, yet they want to push the drinks which by the way was a glass full of ice, expensive ice!

Went here the other night for dinner; the service was excellent!! We had such a sweet waitress very friendly n cheerful. Food was pretty good. I got the Grandma's Meatballs, an appetizer the size of an entree and delicious, and my boyfriend got the NY Strip which he ordered med rare but he got it med well so unfortunately it wasn't that great. The prices aren't bad; about average n it's very nice n clean inside. I would go again.

Came here for a relative's birthday lunch on a Saturday. When we first arrived the place was packed with lots of other parties. Looks like a great place for groups. Once I found our party we were squeezed into a small section of the restaurant but once we all sat down it was comfortable and about an hour later the other crowds started to leave so the noise level decreased. Service was excellent and they offered us several meal options for dinner. I got the French dip which was very good. The roast beef was tender and the sauce served in a separate dish was also very good. Some diners got the cuban sandwich that was not traditional cuban style but the ingredients were all there and it was enjoyed by all. No complaints by anyone about the food. I think the bad reviews for this place are a bit harsh. We enjoyed the food, the restaurant was clean and service was excellent. I would return again for lunch or dinner. I gave it 3 stars but it's more like 3.5.

We went to Hemingway's for the first time tonight. The main course took an hour and a half to come. The sweet waitress kept apologizing. Apparently, the kitchen missed the order. People were being served and they were leaving... we were still there waiting. Finally, a guy came over, didn't introduce himself, manager? Owner? Not sure. He had an attitude and said he took two beers off the bill. Not a meal, nothing else. Other patrons around us were shocked. First and last time for us. So many other places in the area to choose from. The very attentive waitress deserves to work in a nicer environment, from what we could see.

Went for Sunday brunch with some friends and there was hardly anyone in the place. I tried to chat with the Bart but she wasn't much interested in conversing. I was surprised since last time i came here for brunch (3 years ago) there was an hour wait and the bartender was super friendly. Apparently they don't start the brunch buffet until later in the month and that's when the crowds come. Fine with me as i am not really a buffet person. Our waitress was great. She was friendly and attentive but didn't hover. This was a girls get together and we were chatting it up, but she did not rush us at all. To sum up my experience the food was pretty standard but the service was excellent. We all had omelettes and they were fine, nothing to rave about but solid. The waitress kept our mimosas coming and topped off the coffee as well. She was clearly the star at this establishment.

Hemingways is a sure bet when looking for a local spot for dinner with great atmosphere and delicious food! We went there again tonight and everything from the crusty bread with herb infused dipping oil to the fresh, perfectly dressed Caesar salad and yummy onion soup started our meal off with a positive vibe! Our entree choices-flat iron steak for my husband and swordfish w/spinach and youngling potatoes for me were fresh, beautifully presented and delicious! We passed on the homemade desserts but they looked great! Next time we will save room! Service was attentive but not overbearing!

I generally try to be positive and kind in my reviews, when I can. This is not one of those reviews. We have been to Hemingway's previously, for dinner, and we enjoyed it. This was our first brunch visit. We were seated right away and only about 20% of the tables were take . The brunch menu only has 4/5 items on it. When I see such a small menu I expect it to be well executed. It over 30 min to get the food, but honestly, we should have left by the fourth time our waiter said "it's coming out right now." He got the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to medium rare but had a weird taste - as if it was frozen and defrosted while we waited. It was passable. The eggs tasted like rubber. They swore they were scrambled to order but they tastes like they sat in the steam pan for a while. The home fries were utterly devoid of flavor. It was just some small potato pieces sitting on top of some barely sautéed onions. It needed salt and pepper. My "cinnamon vanilla French toast" lacked cinnamon, vanilla or any egg wash. It was completely dry inside, flavorless and burned on the outside. No amount of syrup and butter could help that French toast. I just ate my bacon - that was the only thing that was good on my plate. Service was very slow and lackluster. Our server kept rushing past us and telling us that the food is coming. I was ready to go to the kitchen to make it myself. As we were eating we heard the chef scream, yell and curse. There was some fight going on in the kitchen. This completely turned us off. They took the French toast off the bill. We appreciated the manager coming over to talk to us. However, we will not be going back again.

Never again!!! I went to “A Night with Christopher Allen the Medium” and what a total disaster. The ticket read “doors open at 6:30” meanwhile the establishment barely let us sit down by 7:00. While we waited, the diners were able to get a close up of my a** in their face while they were eating their dinner. Why have a mob of people standing while people are trying to eat?! Second, the idea of a buffet is nice but have your staff serving the food to have the line moving. It

I have eaten here a bunch of times with family. The service is always spot on. Their food is pretty good as well. Great location on Wantagh Ave, with plenty of parking. 5Starz!

Went to dinner at Hemingways last nite Saturday evening, at 7:30 pm. First we were greates by s befuzzled reception and couldn't find our reservation but plenty of open tables in the restaurant. Then after we sat down, ordered drinks and looked at the menu, we were told that the stuffed clam appetizer was unavailable (but that it wasn't really good anyway), and the pretzel appetizer was not available. Now she get into the main courses. The pot roast was gone and maybe 3 shorts ribs were available. Then she checked and those 3 short ribs were eaten already. I find it appalling that a restaurant would run short on these items especially on a Saturday nite. The waitress said I don't work in the kitchen and the chef does the ordering. Nobody is blaming the waitress. And as a side note, the manager was walking around and never did he come over to apologize to us for this. That would have been an appropriate courtesy. We paid our bar bill and left. Will I go back to Hemingways-do pigs fly.

Food is terrible.Server comes around with a basket of bread and tongs as if it were good bread, when in fact it was stale dry dinner rolls. I ordered the seafood platter and the shrimp was old frozen shrimp that smelled fishy and tasted awful. It also had a piece of fillet which was paper thin and was all broken up on top of rice. Included muscles which most were empty shells...no scallops or clams which normally come on a seafood platter. It was so bad I had to send it back and replaced it with the hanger steak which had canned gravy on top of it. Just gross!
