Was very disappointed. Food was was not prepared well and did not meet our expectations considering the prices and advertising. The service was fine but something not in sync with management and the kitchen. Don't plan on returning.

I hate to write this review, but our experience was so unpleasant that the proprietors need to know about it.

We live locally and had a gift certificate that we wanted to use for dinner. We arrived at 6:15 (I know this because the 2some ahead of us indicated they had a reservation, but it wasn’t in the book…). We chose to sit in the tavern and there were 2 other groups there when we arrived, and it seemed like a few tables in the dining room. It is early October and the tavern was cold! There are 2 fireplaces in there (which were not being used) and at least 1 person at every table had their coat on…read the room folks!

There was a bartender and 3 waitstaff working. I asked for a wine menu while my husband ordered an Octoberfest that was listed on the chalkboard. The waitress and bartender said they didn’t have that one but they did have a different one. A can of beer arrives at the table and the waitress pours it into a glass…my husband was looking for a beer on tap, and likely would have selected something different if given the chance. I order a glass of white wine and we order the crabcake appetizer while we consider our entrees. 20 minutes later, we’ve not seen our waitress and I ask a different waitress for the glass of wine I ordered. She goes to the bar and bartender indicates that he didn’t hear it come in (along with at least 4 other tickets that I see in his hand). Wine is delivered and he notes that a 2nd glass is on him because of the delay. Still no crabcake…a few minutes later our waitress arrives, apologizes for the wine and says the crabcake is on the way. We take this moment to order our entrees and a bottle of wine for dinner, worried that we might not have another chance!

The crabcake arrives and looks great. It is larger than a hockey puck and almost double the height. Filled with crab and a little red pepper and topped with capers.

We finish the crabcake and the bottle of wine arrives and the waitress pours us each a glass. Another 20 minutes later she comes back to the table to say that they don’t have the sesame seeds that are supposed to be encrusting the tuna dish I ordered. I said that’s fine, no problem. Another 20 minutes or so and she stops to say that our meals will be out shortly and pours more wine for us.

The meals arrive and they were disappointing. The tuna was not seared. It wasn’t cooked at all. The spinach and mushroom risotto it was supposed to come with had hard rice in it, no spinach or mushrooms, and no flavor. The vegetable “slaw” was also bland.

The $38 short rib entree was a half cup of short rib, which was very tasty. The accompanying risotto was no better than the one with the tuna, and it came with sautéed vegetables. I didn’t get a picture before my husband started eating it.

The waitress stopped by and I told her the tuna was inedible. She asked if I wanted something different, and at this point I just wanted to leave. They took the entree off the bill. The extra glass of white wine never arrived, instead an after dinner drink. Which would have been nice, had I actually eaten a meal…

We left the restaurant a little after 8pm..and when we got home my husband cooked me dinner.

Very disappointed. If the kitchen staff are new, perhaps you should limit the menu to items they are experienced in cooking.

We had the best time at this little location. The restaurant was great but the room was fabulous. 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, dining area, living room and bathroom. Very spacious. Would definitely stay again.

I have eaten here about 4 times. The first three times i had a type of country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy off the tavern menu. It was excellent. This last visted it was no longer on the menu. We chose two specials (Asian surf&turf) and (pasta w/chicken and sausage in a cream sherry sauce) and appetizer( mexican corn dip with chips.) The asian dish had over cooked shrimp and tough steak. The pasta special was overcooked with dry chicken and very dry hard chorizo sausage in what tasted like a vodka sauce. The corn dip was missing a soft cream cheese and the chips were cold and stale. It was very disappointing. The only thing positive was the service. Friendly attentive and efficient. I really only came for the chicken that is no more.

The ambiance, the cuisine, and the staff are all exceptional. I highly recommend both staying at the Bond and dining there. It’s truly an incredible experience.

My husband and I got married at The Bond this past June. From start to finish, our day was perfect. We were able to have the whole property for the day - having our ceremony in the lawn, cocktail hour on the patio and dinner in the beautiful dining room.

Ash and his team were fantastic to work with. His help throughout the planning process, the attentiveness of the staff, and the beauty of the venue made the entire day everything we hoped for and more. The food exceeded our expectations and we’ve received so many kind words from our family and friends.

This venue truly is a hidden gem. We’ll always look back on the day with full hearts and we’re so thankful we chose The Bond!

Went to dinner with my husband at the Bond 1786. We had wanted to try it for some time, but decided today was the day. While the staff was nice, friendly, they clearly were struggling. We sat at the bar as we often like to do and ordered a round of drinks. My Tom Collins was good. Rick's Wiskey Souer was okay at best. the appetizers were seriously outstanding. No fault there. I loved the steamed clams! Then there was dinner. I ordered a spinach and goat cheese salad with a vinegarette and medium rare stake. What I received was a vinegarette soup with a blue stake. The fat was not even rendered. The salad also had no goat cheese or tomatoes as advertised. Rick's stake and fries were OK, nothing special, but also drowning in truffle oil. When discussed with the bartender, he promised to make good on my salad that I could not eat. OK, that's fine... but he never did. He was way too far in the weeds to bother with making any drinks for the bar patrons or with addressing the significant shortcomings of the dinner. This is so unfortunate as the clams really were amazing! All in all, we spent $141 on dinner and left to get something to eat at McDonald's. Do not waste your money.

Adorable old inn. Great location. Whether you are passing through or looking to explore Lake George, The Bond is a great location. Clean comfortable rooms. New bathroom with great water pressure. Great value. Highly recommend.
