Le Quai Bistrot Français provides an intimate setting, delicious food and great service for a romantic occasion but find any reason to go. My wife and I were celebrating our 28th anniversary. The escargot, the chicken, the potatoes, the mushroom soup, the halibut and Bordeaux (I know, red wine doesn't pair with chicken or fish, but it did.) All of it resulted in a very special evening; not to mention the French jazz that quietly played in the background. I'm at odds with myself because I want to keep the place a secret, but I also want them to stay in business; hence, this review. Lastly, the chocolate desert was just decadent; don't ask me why the texture mattered but it did - sublime! It was so rich, only a few tastes shared with my bride and our wonderful evening was complete, all made possible by Le Quai Bistrot Français.

We have been trying to get here for many months with some good friends. Unfortunately and repeatedly, lots of things got in the way. So it was with increased anticipation that we finally got to dine at Le Quai Bistrot last night.

I am the recently retired owner of a fine wine and spirits shop in the area and I joined my dear friend and colleague who is also a wine enthusiast. I brought a couple of bottles of very old Bordeaux to enjoy, and he brought a couple of lovely bottles from California.

The food was superb, the best Boeuf Bourguignon I've had perhaps ever. And I got to share some delightfully old Bordeaux with both our companions and the chef. It was a delightful experience all the way around and I am looking forward to bringing more bottles of old Bordeaux to match up with chef Mo's superb cooking.

I almost don't want to leave this review because I don't want the place get too packed, but if you're looking for lovely traditional and yet completely current and fresh French cooking in the Capital Region, this is the place.

Went with a group of friends and we did share plates. Solid appetizers and entrees all around. Escargot was new for me, but it was quite tasty. I loved the grilled squid over arugula salad; the dressing was so light and refreshing on the fresh arugula. Squid was cooked to perfection. My main entree was the braised lamb shank. This thing was huge and falling apart from the bone! Very tender, and reminded me of the beef stew I make. Perfect! Definitely meant to share. Halibut was great as well, though I'm a sucker for capers and the duck was delicious too, and of course the desserts were spot on. Highly recommended for a date night and special occasions.

The staff were attentive and the owner even personally greeted us. I am a fan of the atmosphere and the service that they provided. Lovely night.

The ONLY authentic French meal in the Capital Region. Amazing wines by the glass at absurdly low prices, extremely authentic, thoughtfully prepared meals - the pâté takes DAYS to make. Everything from the branded French steak knives to the sparkling water being kept in an ice bucket tableside shows that this restaurant has unmatched attention to detail. C’etait un experience marveilleux!

What a delightful surprise in the middle of downtown Waterford. Dinner here was delicious. The food is thoughtfully prepared and the wine selections are c'est magnifique. The service can be on the slower side, but that is because everything is made to order. You can pretend you are in a French province - sit back, relax and savor the food, service, and atmosphere.

Everything was delicious and wonderfully complex. The staff and chef were incredibly accommodating. The wine was delicious and the desert was to die for.

Vegetarian options: Call ahead with your reservation and let the team know you eat vegetarian, the chef will make you a special entree!

This is a hidden gem; very traditional French menu. One of us had fish, one had the scallops, the other had duck… each dish was superbly prepared. There is a tajine dish on the menu that looked delicious. The crème brûlée was made to perfection. Elizabeth, our server, was a pro.
