My husband and I’s favorite local restaurant!!! The food is DELICIOUS, the pulled pork nachos and Mac and cheese are our favorites! The staff is super friendly and helpful, the vibe is amazing, and the prices are very reasonable! We would definitely recommend giving it a try!

I'm a Watertown native and rarely went out to the bar scene just because the options were very limited and pretty much all the same vibes/atmospheres, and many only really target the same crowd...overall just lackluster and boring bars. Empire Square is a breath of fresh air! It has a very unique and cozy vibe, attracts all walks of life not just older or younger crowds. They always have kick ass bands on Saturdays and a variety of other events during some of the week days. If you're a foodie they have some of the best homemade food around! Sarah the bartender is probably one of the best if not the best bartender in town, she's extremely welcoming to all her guest and definitely knows her way behind the bar. If you don't see her behind the bar she's probably kicking someones ass on the foosball table (it'll be quick don't worry). If you don't know what to drink she's always got something special up her sleeve for you to try. There is a reason why she has so many regulars and is becoming Watertowns most popular bartender.. go see for yourself my review will not do her justice! Empire will always be my go to cocktail bar and it's super cool watching it succeed. See you on the Square!

I'm Canadian just passing through, few regulars were seated early in the evening. Service was personal and welcoming. Light live jazz, was worried about it being uppity, it was not at all. Patrons were good people and bar tender and staff attentive and warm without "trying". Felt at home within a short time. Food was delicious, I had the steak and cheese, well beyond my goal of a simple burger! Cold beer and a fantastic Woodfords Manhattan. Thanks to the friend for Sodus Point tip, was a great ride and met more new friends there too. Thanks for the hospitality my US neighbors, hope to be back again!

Fantastic eclectic historic restaurant in the heart of downtown Watertown on the Square. Loving care has been taken to achieve a historically accurate yet updated hip vibe. The integrity of the historical architecture still stands. The concept is outstanding. Bringing north and south together not only in food, but in culture and decor. This is a comfortable place to meet, greet and eat with friends, old and new. Here’s wishing Vonnette and all of her teams the utmost of success. You may not know that she graduated from West Point and retired as a Lt. Col. after a full career in the Army. She then went to Culinary School and became a chef. She came back to Watertown and has honored her commitment to launch other young chefs into the restaurant business. She employs a lot of people and gives back to the community. The food is great with a fresh southern take, shrimp and grits are a fave. Please support this veteran, woman owned business.

I finally made it back like I said I would. This time I ordered the Jibarito, Southern Fries, and fried green tomatoes along with a piece of tiramisu cake for dessert. The plantains were fried to the perfect amount of crispiness and the meat was tender, juicy and full of flavor. On the Jibarito . The fries were crispy on the outside and and tender on the inside. There was plenty of cheese and meat with the fries. The fried green tomatoes were still lacking but they were hot. The tiramisu cake was a large sized piece. It was moist and sweet but not too sweet. Overall, a very nice meal. My Wife and I split everything and we both left full. They staff was very pleasant even though we came in too close to closing time. We will be back again!

It was 10 below zero when we went so I am hoping that was the reason some of our food was cold. Also, our fried green tomatoes were super greasy. Cold oil maybe? The taste of my sandwich and the chili was good enough that we will try again on a warmer day.
