ā 1 Star ā Empire Square: Where Dog Bowls Go to Die
If youāre in Watertown and craving disappointment served in a dog bowl, look no further than Empire Square. I came in while waiting on car repairs, with a modest $8 appetizer budget in mind. The host cheerfully upsold me on their āSunday Brunch Specialā ā $15 for any breakfast or lunch item with bottomless mimosas. Sounds good, right? Wrong.
I ordered nachos with pulled pork and what I got looked like it had been rescued from the dumpster behind Taco Bell: soggy tortilla chips, a couple of sad sprinkles of meat, and just enough cheese to qualify as ācheese-adjacent.ā The presentation? In what looked like a dog bowl. If that was supposed to be āpulled pork nachos,ā then Iām the Queen of England.
My guest took one look and suggested we go elsewhere. Smart move. I asked for a doggie bag (fitting, considering the bowl), left nearly a whole carafe of mimosas untouched, and prepared to cut my losses.
But the real kicker? The bill. Instead of the promised $15, Empire Square tried to stick me with $32 for that culinary insult. When I reminded them of the price quoted, they argued. Their version of customer service was shaving $8 off my bill like they were doing me a favor. Spoiler: they werenāt.
Iām a veteran, I eat out regularly, and I usually leave glowing reviews. This is my first negative oneāand Empire Square earned every bit of it. Profits over people, zero accountability, and food that makes a gas station hot dog look gourmet.
Empire Square should be ashamed. Unless your idea of brunch is overpaying for garbage in a dog dish, steer clear.

I can't believe walked by this place once without going in - I'm glad I circled back. Ordered the breakfast burger: huge slabs of bacon on a toasted kaiser roll (interesting choice). The owners really took pride in the atmosphere of the place and made it feel like I was back in Kentucky. Along with the southern hospitality, this is a good place to come alone or with friends.

Had a brunch here - service was fast and pleasant, and food was amazing. Highly recommend the chicken and biscuit! The homemade cheese sauce was something else. Mimosa flight was great and cool ambiance.

I went to this restroom with friends . I got avocado toast and it was very brown it tasted like bananas it was disgusting š«£ the waiter asked me if I wanted a box to take it home and I said it was not good he did offer anything just ignored me. I would never go there again! š GROSS

My husband and Iās favorite local restaurant!!! The food is DELICIOUS, the pulled pork nachos and Mac and cheese are our favorites! The staff is super friendly and helpful, the vibe is amazing, and the prices are very reasonable! We would definitely recommend giving it a try!
