My son recommended this establishment to me he said he would not eat from any other Jamaican restaurant unless it's Island Soul and I have to agree with him the food was very good the oxtails were delicious and my fiancee got the fish and he said it was delicious so two thumbs up for Island Soul Restaurant

I ordered a large curry shrimp on seamless.I literally go a bunch of rice and a small serving of shrimp.I paid for a large curry shrimp not a small curry shrimp and a bunch of rice. This restaurant needs to be more consistent. If you are short on an item ,cancel the order .Don't pad it with rice. That is not what I am paying for.Do better!!!

So my roti had a hair! the rice has no flavor, the goat was dry, no flavor, the best thing with the plantains. No gravy in the rice. It was the hair for me sis

I have been coming to Island Soul for about two years now and have always loved it. The owner is ambitious and is very kind. Service and food are amazing! Recently they have gotten a new cashier and she is not welcoming at all. Very rude and rushes you while you order. As a result of this, I choose other restaurants like Golden Krust.

Gave this place a shot today as my wife likes j*** chicken and Queens is a bit of a drive to get the good stuff. It was decent. Not great not bad. I'll say for the price it's a good deal given quantity of food and relative quality.

Probably my favorite Caribbean food spot. J*** salmon, Rasta pasta, and all of the traditional plates are well made and good portions for the money. Highly recommend

The food is always amazing and the staff is friendly. Shop is super small so you feel a bit cramped but it's like a little slice of heaven. You can tell it's a family owned business. They are very attentive, I moved to west Hempstead 4 years ago and I have ordered from here numerous times since. It's the closest place besides sam's Caribbean market in west Hempstead with authentic Caribbean food.

I had a taste for oxtails and decided to give this spot a try. I ordered a small oxtail $15.50 the food was okay , but not what I had in mind. I like browning gravy , I'm a gravy on the rice kind of gal. The oxtails appeared to be stewed in tomato sauce / paste. The taste was overbearing. I ordered j*** pork for my Mom , she enjoyed it., it was flavorful. Well "we" enjoyed it. We shared a small and portion size was enough for two.

We have been here a few times, the J*** Chicken is always good but we ordered when we saw them on Yelp and tried different dishes. The Oxtails were great but we both really loved the Fried Fish dinner. Delicious. We will order it again.

Good food made with spices from Barbados. Understand this is not Jamaican food. They serve huge portions, the containers are heavy. You will get your money's worth. I enjoyed that they don't overpowering the food with spices. The flavor is just right with the perfect amount of heat in every bite. Parking is extremely difficult. It's a very busy area and dangerous pulling out of your parking spot.

Stumbled across the place while driving, ordered the Rasta pasta , oxtails rice & peas and a mild beef patty . The oxtails were okay the rice as well wasn't a fan of the rice it was missing a little more seasoning but then I'm Not a rice lover anyway. Now the Rasta pasta with the original sauce was gooooddd I put the oxtails on top once I got home and it was a party lol. When I placed my order and she mentioned I have to wait for it to be made I said huh at that moment I should of changed it from a small to large ,because most places have it just resting all day and the juices get dry but this Rasta pasta wasn't dry at all I spilled some of the juice out Bc I couldn't wait till we reached home .but I will be going back to try other stuff and of course to get another order of Rasta pasta

Delicious, Authentic, and Wholesome. The Roti was fluffy, buttery and with a delicately spiced blend of potato and chickpeas. The curried goat was cooked to perfection with an accent of Thyme and Allspice.Highly recommended and looking forward to my next visit.
