Outstanding freshly prepared food and great service. The menu is so extensive you could enjoy something new everyday and never get tired of it.

This diner is so expensive! The food is not that good and they nickel and dime the customer for everything. I will not return ???? To top it off the cashier has an attitude problem.

Always enjoyed coming here, friendly staff, great service & food. Too bad they are closing their doors for good on Sunday April 16, we were told yesterday by the owner.

I must unfortunately say this is one of the worst diners I have ever been too. First and for most, the staff are incredibly friendly and fast. The glaring the problem is the food. It is atrocious. I don’t know if their ingredients are fresh but they certainly do not taste that way. Specifically their tomato sauce is rough and barely edible. The chicken for their chicken parm is was cooked to hell. It was rough and flavorless. I have also had their tacos and it’s pretty much the same thing. Over cooked and flavorless. The major flaw in this establishment is either poorly cooked food, or poor ingredients that are then cooked poorly. I cannot recommend this establishment.

This is one of my favorite diners in the world. Always a friendly greeting when I walk in and the wait staff is excellent. The kitchen staff is always willing to accommodate my special requests. The prices are very reasonable and they have an interesting and large selection of items. The food is always great. If you're in the West Hempstead area I highly recommend you go check it out. Lea greets you when you come in and is always smiling and accommodating. to the needs of your group.

The atmosphere was low key for a Sunday afternoon... (But in all fairness it was hours from the Superbowl!) The eats were copious and delicious (Fettuccine Carbanera was BEYOND tasty) and the service was spectacular (Thank you Jimmy♡) Yeah... It's a diner; but I can't wait to go back.

Great food, great atmosphere!!! My kids said it was better than IHOP. They want to come back on a regular basis.

MALACHI (waiter) is the BEST thing at this diner. If you must, get take-out, because if you dine-in, you'll be eating with the aroma of an old can (not bottle) of Pine Sol from the nice man mopping by your table as you eat. Food was cold and simply not good. How do you mess up breakfast? #Unfortunate

If I could give it no star's I would. Waiters uniforms were dirty. Food was not hot. Although I did find waiter very kind and comfortable, he talked all over my food that he carried up by his neck. Masks should be worn by food service. Lady boss is not who I want to work under.

Not sure why, but the supply chain is probably making issues with food quality. Just not as good as it once was. Gravy on a hot open roast beef sandwich was the same gravy as the turkey, with a essence of Gravy Master .Try again over winter

We went there twice. The food was good & the wait staff were excellent. There is a very large selection, as expected with a diner.Parking: Has it's own parking lot

Three friends and I went to The Lantern Diner on 11/6/2022 after being insulted by the hostess at the Waterzooi Brasserie & Oyster Bar in Garden City and leaving without ordering. We had quite the pleasant surprise at The Lantern Diner. We were enthusiastically greeted and seated and a very spacious table (All four of us are on the large side). We were immediately asked what we would like to drink, and those drinks got to the table super fast. Our lovely waitress took our orders and got our delicious food to us in a more than reasonable amount of time. Between the excellent food and being treated like we were long-lost relatives, we left full and happy. I highly recommend this place!

Used to be a great diner. Not anymore!!First couple of times we went in the past year, we were disappointed, but thought OK they are struggling out of the pandemic. We’ll try them in the fall. This past week friends went there for lunch about 12:30. We were happy to see several booths were occupied. I Ordered eggs Benedict. When it arrived with no asparagus, I asked about it, both the waiter and the hostess looked at me like I had two heads and said, we don’t ever have asparagus .” Eggs Benedict is poached eggs on an English muffin with Canadian bacon topped with asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. What would you do with the terrible fake hollandaise sauce; which thankfully was served on the side, Awful. Did they expect someone to put it directly on the poorly poached eggs??? The bacon was old and cold. I was Charged $6.00 extra for the home fries that were listed as included with the order…so $21.00. My friend ordered pancakes, listed at $9.00. She was charged an extra $6.00 for the sausage which seemed to this teacher when she read the menu, to be included.with the pancakes. We asked several times for butter for the pancakes. The clearers kept telling us we had to wait for the waiter. After waiting 20 minutes he finally arrived returning with one tiny cup of whipped something…certainly not butter.Even though we ordered from the breakfast menu, Coffee $4.00 extraSo $44.00+change for breakfast. Yes we left a tip…the change from $50; considerably less than our usual 20%. Except from the first person who took our order, but then disappeared, Service was unfriendly and lacking. The food and service are as shabby as their faded out awnings…Parking: I would comment positively about the parking, but that is not enough to recommend this very disappointing diner.

Although I thought the food was delicious (especially their pie) it is kinda expensive for a diner. I only go hear occasionally as it is near my school. My local diner charges less and for larger portions.

Excellent, kind and fast service. The place is super clean, have a huge parking lot which is great!! They have a very large and diverse menu. And I love the vintage look of this diner.
