Waste of $40 on a flavorless, bland not so “prime” rib.

The main dining room at the Thayer has always been fantastic, great food, ambience, and very nice and attentive staff. The only problem has always been trying to just get a glass of wine with dinner--should try to make that a little more seamless. Otherwise we had a great dinner with our cadet.
We celebrated our anniversary at the place we were married and it was lovely. Sandy was outstanding and gave us top notch service and made us feel very special! We were sorry that it was a buffet instead of the regular menu, but that couldn't be helped.
The service and setting were lovely. The food was very disappointing. I had planned to take my family for the Sunday brunch buffet but based on the standard of food I had this time I will not be returning. It's unfortunate because the setting is so beautiful.
The food was great. Our server was friendly, polite, and very efficient. the setting is beautiful. We had a view of the Hudson as the sun set. The fall foliage is spectacular. It was a great night!!
The Thayer Hotel needs a facelift. it's stuffy and outdated. Little table lights or candles could improve it easily. Service was confused, but food was good and a good value for what was received.
Wonderful staff, plenty of food choices, and a quiet start to our vacation days. Thank you!
1. Waitress was rude- calling us girls, reaching over us, slamming things on the table 2. Waitress- Sandy extremely slow and not knowledgeable about current menu 3. It took an hour for our starters and the soup was ice cold 4.Birthday surprise botched by Sandy- cake left unattended for 30 minutes 5. Manager unaware walking around without noticing one table without food for an hour This used to be a lovely restaurant it's awful now- I dont recommend. even the seafood risotto was actually seafood stew with red sauce!!!
Servers were disinterested in their tasks. Three different servers asked if our order was taken before it actually was.
The dining room and view are spectacular. Beautiful venue overlooking the Hudson. Unfortunately, the restaurant only served a buffet dinner on the Saturday evening that we went. The food was mediocre to poor. Best foods were the salads, shrimp cocktail, and desserts. I assume that there was only a buffet because the Thayer Hotel was hosting two weddings at the time we had dinner following the Army football game. We have been to the Thayer many times and have always enjoyed it. Sunday brunch is great. This dinner, however was very disappointing.

We made reservations for Friday evening. Sometime that afternoon we received an e-mail stating that dinner that night would be a seafood buffet with no other options available. As we were traveling all day, we didn't know this until just prior to our reservation. The food was unremarkable and service was fair. I wouldn't go there again.
Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with a wait of over an hour and a half for our food. This is unlike the Thayer as I've eaten there in the past and had wonderful experiences.
Service was terrible. Head waitress had a condescending attitude. Drink orders were never taken. We each had to ask for our drinks after we received our appetizers, she still forgot my son’s drink. After about 10 min we tried to grab her attention and she put her finger up at us, motioning to wait and kept walking. The food was bland and overpriced. The seafood risotto was water and the actual risotto was still hard, did not have any flavor. Prime rib was ordered medium well, it came rare, and didn’t even have salt and pepper on it. The best dish served were the biscuits off of the app menu. An empty dining room and poor online ratings, management should be more involved in the day to day operations.
The view of the Hudson is to die for - but you have to be sitting out on the terrace. The menu and service were quite good. There were even vegetarian options. It's located right inside the famed west-point, the restaurant being named after the great general MacArthur.
I visited my cadet nephew and took him to dinner at the restaurant. Unfortunately it was a Tuesday night and they apparently had a large party. Because of this, they warned us that our service would be slow. They weren't lying. They realized that we might be "forgotten" and actually gave us a call button on our table. I had to use it several times to call for service. The staff was very nice in spite of this inconvenience.
