Went on a quiet Saturday enjoyed my Genny Cream Ale and left. Good spot
Coolest place I've ever been to. You think it's not open upon driving up to the back. Go inside and see the bar isn't anything like the outside of the house . COOLEST
Great dive bar! They are the best.
Chet I don’t know you nor have I ever been to your place. But I own Snyder’s Tavern in Glen Rose Texas which is in a historic property built in 1919. Scott our bartender, who grew up in central New York (Mohawk Valley) makes the best old fashions too and I just want to invite you and pappy to visit us sometime so we can tell stories!!!
Awesome little hidden gem. Nothing fancy but great people and atmosphere inside .
Unfortunately rude and bigoted service, and the place looks worse for wear.
Glad to see they don’t take kindly out those city folks and all that it brings!! Stay in your lane and go back to the city.
Just a Bar, no food. But they are always pleasant to sit with. And of course, it looks haunted on the outside, but typical well stocked bar on the inside.

Wendigo.....!
Pretty unwelcoming environment. We (mid 20’s, clearly from the city but respectful, polite, & smiling, especially because we’re visitors to the town) popped in at 4:30pm on a Saturday after reading positive reviews and everyone immediately turned and stared (like continuous cold stares) at us without so much as a smile or nod when we walked in. The older gentleman who was behind the bar did not show any interest in helping us, even after my female friend and I walked up to the bar and politely smiled after saying hello. He proceeded to offer to help 2 other folks (and finished serving them) and then started to walk to the back— still without even saying hello or asking if we wanted anything.
It actually took another gentleman sat at the bar (Thank you to him! Appreciate his humanity & kindness) to say “Hey, why don’t you help out these folks first” for him to finally turn to us (mind you, we were standing there clearly politely waiting since we had tentatively walked in).
Would not recommend going to Snyder’s if you’re queer, Black, and/or from the city and present in any way as “alternative”. Even if you’re nice, polite, & respectful, you will probably be made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, which was too bad. We ended up having an excuse to leave because they don’t have an ATM and are cash only, but honestly would have left anyway because they didn’t want us there and the bartender, at least, made that extremely clear.
Bottom line is we just wanted a drink, to support local, and play a game of pool to celebrate our girl’s bday. Would have been awesome if we could have done that. Don’t worry, old paranoid white men and women of Snyder’s, we won’t be back, no need to lose any sleep at night over it. :)
Edit: We mentioned this experience to a co-worker who lives part time in Phoenicia and she said if we’d told her we were thinking of going she would have said never to step foot in there because the building used to be covered in Trump flags. Honestly, given that the hostility is still the same I don’t know why they took them down, would save a lot of folks time!

A Saturday at 3:00. No one there but bartender and 2 local gentleman. Not much interaction. But we loved being there. Very old and funky and clean. As we left, we talked a little. Great Americans. ??

No food at this tavern but Beverages and accommodating bar tender. We quite enjoyed going there after years of wanting to go.

Want to see an old historical bar that looks scary at night? This is the place. Everyone was nice, but the building itself looks haunted. Check it out!
