This is hands down the best sushi restaurant I've everrr been to!!!! The fish is incredibly fresh and the service is outstandingggg!! Everyone’s so friendly, fast, and attentive without being overbearing. Taka, the owner, is one of the kindest people you’ll meet and takes great pride in what he does. If you’re looking for top-tier sushi and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, this is DEFINITELYyyy the place:))

Great typical Long Island sushi place. Good selection of sake as well.

Taka Sushi is a great spot for a delicious and authentic sushi experience. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, and the sushi was fresh and expertly prepared. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, making it a perfect spot for date night. Well worth a visit!

The Ankimo was amazing and very reasonable. The atmosphere and quality is as good as in Tokyo. Everything about it made me homesick. It’s a very legit Japanese restaurant. It’s small inside so be sure to make a reservation.

We got the chirashi, the Japanese selection sushi combo and ankimo. Highly recommend!

Taka in Westbury, New York, is a neighborhood sushi bar that delivers a genuinely authentic experience. The fish is consistently fresh and flavorful, while the rice used for the nigiri is perfectly balanced—firm without being over-pressed. It’s hands down the best sushi spot in the area. The atmosphere outside is quiet, with subtle evening lighting that evokes the feel of an izakaya in Ueno. Inside, the space is small, cozy, and distinctly Japanese, offering a warm and intimate dining experience. The only downside is that the shrimp nigiri is made with cooked shrimp, while I would prefer botan ebi instead.

We love going to Taka Sushi! The food is worth the 1 1/2 hour drive for us. Everything is high quality and great service and atmosphere. We highly recommend it. The price is a little more on the higher end. Save your Pennie’s, because it is worth it!

Parking: Plenty of parking

Kid-friendliness: There were kids there and the waitress accommodated high chairs and booster chairs.

Wheelchair accessibility: Wide doors and plenty of room between tables

Hands down the best sushi on the island. The quality and freshness of the fish is unmatched. Excellent service as well and I highly recommend the Omakase for the most authentic experience.

Had Omakase here tonight… It’s is truly splendid!I can’t think of any other place on Long Island so far that can beat this Omakase. Go here for the food. That is its greatest strength.

I thought the sushi was rather basic, the girl that rung me up was either confused or had an amazingly nasty undertone.

As a solo diner, I was able to get a table without a reservation on Saturday night.

I personally would not come back to this place because of how horrible the sushi rice was.

If you were to come here, I would personally stick with the appetizers and sashimi. The quality of fish was okay; however, I could get fresher fish in Arizona... and the appetizers were decent.

I tried the Tai Sushi and Chirashi, but the rice was horrible...

Appetizers Ordered:
1) Ankimo
2) Raw Octopus
3) Age Dashi Tofu
4) Veggie Tempura

I spent around $170 (pre-tip) for dinner myself.
