I’ve tried nepali khana in almost every Nepali restaurants, this place serves the best one in New York City hands down. The owner himself is the chef and you can just taste the passion in his cooking. My go to is Dry Pork. Too good.
This restaurant has a great aesthetic and a really nice vibe, but I wasn't very impressed with the food. We ordered pork chhoila and a deep-fried whole fish. The pork was spicy and flavorful, but the fish was bland and a bit chewy. Authentic Nepali fried fish should have a more robust flavor profile with hints of Szechuan and ginger, but this one fell short. We probably won't be coming back.
Honestly, my only real complaint about this place is that the name is kind of misleading. We walked in thinking it was just a cafe, but it's actually a Nepalese/Tibetan restaurant and bar. We actually love that food so it worked out, but it threw us for a loop.The lighting is very low so it creates a certain ambiance, that felt kind of weird during the day as we were eating there around 2 PM.But the food was great, served friendly, and overall the experience was good.
