BEST meal I have ever had in my entire life and I try new restaurants in nyc all the time.

Everything we ordered was absolutely mouthwatering. We got:
-the Wood fired pita- that whipped butter was heavenly
-prosciutto & fig- the combination of all these ingredients and flavors made for the perfect bite
-Lamb chop- simply stunning
-mushroom pasta- the umami flavor was unreal. You need to get this!

The service was great and the restaurant is super cute inside

So so good! Definitely recommend ordering family style to try more.

The mushroom pasta was the best thing we ordered but could have skipped the shrimp & sausage appetizer. The artichoke soup was delicious!

Highly Recommend! Service, food and ambiance were impeccable.

Food:
For appetizers, we got the lamb and shrimp pita and a kale and brussels salad. Both were very tasty and great choices. I got the blueberry sour and espresso martini to drink and they were great.

For entrees, we got the chicken schnitzel (not something I would usually order, but saw recommendations online) and lamb chops. Both dishes had interesting and deep flavors but we were impressed by the simplistic yet flavorful chicken. Both had innovative flavors!

Dessert:
We got the Turkish delight panna cotta and the lavender chocolate pot. Both not too sweet and delicious

Would love to come back!

Once in a while, you come across a restaurant that has everything perfectly aligned. Sylvia’s is that place. Olivia, who waited on us, was exceptional: Professional, warm, and genuinely down to Earth. The manager accommodated our request for a quieter table even with a full house! The vibe was very chill and cool, including the music selections. Now let’s talk about the food. The Wood Fired Pita with whipped honey butter was, in fact, “magical,” as Olivia described it would be. The artichoke soup and five green salads were a perfect, unique blend of flavors. Chicken schnitzel with green beans was delicious and cooked perfectly, as was the filet of trout. Additionally, homemade sodas are a nice nonalcoholic beverage alternative. Sylvia’s is the standard all restaurants should try to strive for.

Overall, the ambiance was nice, and we enjoyed sitting at the bar. This is our third time visiting this place, but I was disappointed with the experience. After a stressful Saturday, I came to unwind, but I felt rushed to leave. The check was brought right after the dessert menu, even though we weren’t interested in ordering dessert. Our bottle of wine was still half full, and I was planning to order an Espresso Martini afterward, but the check came too soon. The staff member who attended to us was a brunette woman, and it felt like I was being hurried to leave, which was unfortunate. It would have been better if we had been given a bit more time to relax and enjoy the evening. Other than that, the food and atmosphere were good.

I ordered an entree from the menus but asked that the vegetables from another entree be brought with my order—a perfectly reasonable request I have made many times in other restaurants. Management refused. I would have been happy to pay an up charge but wasn’t given that option. This is an example of a merchant putting its arbitrary policy ahead of the customer’s wishes. What happened to customer service and “the customer is always right?” I left and won’t be going back.

Second visit today 10/26/2024 after a phenomenal first visit last year 10/2023. Very disappointed as the food was just ok. The wedge salad was just ok as the dressing was flavorless and needed more blue cheese crumbles or something. Fig, prosciutto, endive appetizer was a mess on the plate and missing the wonderful ‘nduja sausage flavor it had last year. The smoked pork chop was dry and served on cold grits. The patatas bravas were cold and hard with a tasteless paprika cashew aioli drizzled sauce. So disappointing for such a pricy meal. We also had to wait 25 minutes after the appetizers and salads were removed for our main course. Not usually an issue; however, our server did not check on us at all or give us an update as to when our meal would be ready. Ambience was appealing last time but the restaurant and bathrooms were so dark with so many patrons milling around this time. Also, the WC/bathroom mirror needs a good cleaning and sinks had rust spots that looked disgusting. Terrible to leave this disappointing review but a $200+ meal for three people should be great. :(

Late booking and the place was still buzzing. Beautiful space, quirky art and decor. Because of the open kitchen and grill you may come away smelling fragrant to pets. The mains were absolutely delicious - pork chop had such great flavour, the mushroom pasta umami full and comforting. Tomato and whipped feta was very salty and astringent I presume from the dressing, could perhaps do with something like a hazelnut or bread to balance. Vegan 'cheesecake' was interesting and I enjoyed it! Others on the table less so
