Don Jose Mexican Cuisine

Went for the 1st time in Saturday and was not disappointed. The margaritas were the best I've ever had, fresh squeezed guava was delicious. Had the carnitas burrito and the meat melts in your mouth. Everything was delicious and fresh, will definitely be back!

Hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant! Don Jose is a hidden gem right in our neighborhood—and it’s everything you’d want from a family-run spot. Carlos runs the front of house with warmth and genuine hospitality, while his mom and dad are in the back working their magic in the kitchen. You can taste the love and care in every dish. The food is incredibly fresh, easily the freshest Mexican cuisine we’ve found anywhere nearby. The guacamole is a standout—light, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. Every bite feels like it was made just for you. What makes Don Jose truly special, though, is the people. They’re always kind, welcoming, and make you feel like family the second you walk in the door. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, they treat you like a regular. Support local and do yourself a favor—go to Don Jose. You won’t regret it.

Excellent food and service

We were looking for a new restaurant for Mexican food a couple wks ago and found Don Jose’s in the valley - everything we had was very good, including guacamole, homemade hot sauce (bought more to take home). We went back and took friends & had the mole sauce enchiladas, cheese dip & watermelon margaritas! One of our new favorite spots!

Great food, service, and atmosphere! Generous portions and such friendly staff!!

The pork carnitas were fork-tender, perfectly seasoned with a slightly smokey hint. The portions are generous, flavorful and the service and atmosphere were great also. Our server made a well blended, tart, yet sweet strawberry margarita that was near perfection!

We had an amazing meal. The Que me Vez Mixta was a delicious and filling meat and rice dish, something I've never seen on a Mexican menu. I recommend it. We also enjoyed the Pozole, a traditional Mexican soup with beef and hominy. This came with lots of toppers, it was super awesome. I highly recommend it!

Kid-friendliness: My seven year old loved the quesadilla and the queso dip. You can't beat that!

I’ve been here twice and the food is great! The first time was during grand opening so it was a bit crowded with a long wait but this second time coming was great. The staff was super attentive. The food was delicious. The homemade hot sauce had a great flavor. Def recommend asking for that over the bottled. Everything was fantastic though. Glad this opened near my neighborhood!

Excellent authentic Mexican food and they go out of their way to be nice and talk to you. That means the world to me. They brought us a special hot sauce that they make in house by the family and every bit of the food is made by the actual family. I love this. I encourage everybody to support local Business in Akron!!!!

We are picky about our Mexican food… This place was a pleasant surprise! Queso fundido was good in a town where we usually only find cheese dip. Fajitas were great! Even the beans had excellent flavor. Highly recommend! Just go!

Vegetarian options: I ordered the vegetarian fajitas. Very good …a nice variety of veggies!
