Completely disappointing. After being seated we waited to be greeted by a server. After 8 minutes or so the host came over and asked our drinks and brought them. Our food came out, the food runner ask us for anything else. We asked for coffee since our cups sat empty the whole time we waited for food.Here's the extent of communication with our server:1. "You ready?" So we ordered...2. "Food ok?" Not really, but we were over it.3. Brought the check.Cool. The breading fell completely off the fried chicken. The corned beef hash wasn't cooked enough. The meat was really chewy. The potatoes didn't resemble hash at all. Any hash the potatoes should appear to have hot a frying pan. How do you mess up fried chicken. Wife said it had no flavor at all. Likely liked brining step, little seasoning in the breading that didn't stick. Just overall bad. She said the super tiny portion maybe an ounce of habanero honey was tasty. If there was a bright side to any of this.

I don't wish to see death dates of anyone on the walls while attempting to have a pleasant breakfast. I later find an article online titled this restaurant is serving up lessons on racial inequality?? We were not there for that. We came for breakfast, not lessons. BLM decorated the walls. Too much confusion where this political topic is concerned and it was a turn off to eating there. Who is doing the educating?? My server?? So this is all opinions?? This was strange to walk in on. It's NOT my new normal to be served up lessons with our food. We'll pass..We walked back out..

I have been eating here for years. Never have I ever had bad food or service. Always above average. Today I ordered my usual eggs Benedict add tomato and spinach with cheese on well done home fries and Irish coffee. I kid you not Shayla on the window made the best eggs Benedict I've ever had from the eye opener. Gary was amazing with our coffees and service. You are missing out if your not here. I have a picture but need to post.

This place is fantastic.. the service was great and the food was excellent. Akron is my hometown and they represent it all over the restaurant.. lots of amazing pictures of historical Akron … I highly recommend this
Wheelchair accessibility: There is only one curb cut in the plaza where Eye Opener is located. It is at the end where the Dunkin' Donuts is.

Great breakfast place. They have a great selection of options. I really enjoyed the car ita enchiladas with the pablano salsa and potatoes. They also have a great selection of breakfast cocktails from different bloody Marys, mimosas and coffee drinks. Favorite place to stop in the Akron area.

Rediscovered Eye Opener after several years. Really enjoy the place. They charge 4% for credit card use. This is a rip off. I will not return unless someone I am with wants to go. Well, I now go to eye opener. I pay cash to avoid the 4% credit card charge. Nothing has changed, it's still diner food with a twist. If you're a snob, stay away. If you want decent food, decent service, and decent prices then by all means give it a try
