The owner of the last 20 years was in when I went yesterday, and I got the hear the story of how this place got started. I also came to understand why these doughnuts actually taste good (made on site daily). I will try very hard to go here, and not a chain, whenever I can help it.
Everytime I visit the old homestead in Akron, I stop by here to stock up on the best doughnuts in any state. I usually stay a week in Akron and I buy enough to last (although they never do). It’s very hard to find this kind of old-fashioned quality. I’m glad I only come once a year because I wouldn’t fit through the door if I still lived in Akron. If you’re craving a doughnut, come here. Worth the trip from anywhere in Akron/Canton area.
Great guy running a great shop. Makes his stuff fresh daily and it shows! I love when I get to come here, my only issue is he is cash only, but he put an ATM inside for convenience.
