I wish I could give this place 10 stars. We held a special event here for my step-father's celebration of life, and the owners and the staff were incredible. They accommodated us, took care of our guests and helped us create the perfect ambience for our event. I only wish I lived closer, so I could frequent this adorable neighborhood tavern, tucked back from busy West Market Street. (They do not have a full menu, but you are welcome to bring in outside food. My recommendation: Piada Italian Street Food from across the street!).

South Point is such a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Every time I swing by, I am treated to one of the best cocktails I've had in Akron along with superior service from a very helpful and friendly staff. You could get lost in the number of options they have available - I think they have a half dozen different types of Old Fashioned, alone - but the bartenders are so helpful and accommodating, willing to talk thru what you like and don't like to find the best option for you. The space is quiet, cosy, and vibey with the lights kept low. Seating is limited, but I haven't had an issue getting a stool yet.

Kurt welcomed me in and was patient with me for knowing nothing about good whiskey or cocktails. He could have gotten impatient as it was busy, but he took his time to help me find what I wanted and taught me what to look for. “Gelato” mixed drink was a highlight.
