M- And old name a new owner unfortunately it was not good with the original owner and has turned very bad with latest owner. They offer a buffet in a town calling for an exceptional meal. The place and decor is dated and it seems to not be owned and staffed by an Asian present. The food was salty and didn't taste very Chinese. Put this puppy to bed and recreate something that is original. Ellet needs a nice place to set down and taste something wonderful. If we want a bargain we will go to another Mexican free chips and salsa place.

They are under new management for the last 3 months or so. We have ordered take-out two times. The first time it was not great, but acceptable with the pork fried rice being very sticky and the sweet and sour chicken not being very crispy (the size of the order has diminished with it only being about a 1/2 cup or so). Last night we ordered the same (sweet and sour chicken with extra pork fried rice) and it was horrible. The pork fried rice was made with some kind of beef resembling beef jerkey. IF I HAD A DOG, I MIGHT HAVE GIVEN IT TO THE DOG. WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Walked in today knowing their buffet was finally open again. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. The food was burnt and hardened from sitting all day long. There was not enough out to even make a full plate. As soon as we sat, we were brought our check but told "no rush". After five pieces of chicken and two crab rangoon - I opened my fortune cookie. I couldn't help but laugh, how fitting! Also heard someone arguing on the phone in the back over paying the old owners bill. Maybe the new owners are the issue. I don't see them staying open after my visit today.

Is there a zero star rating possible?! I ordered take out a couple days ago. I walk in the building and was not greeted right away. Customer service was mid. By the time I made the 5 minute drive home my food felt cold! I open my bag to find that the cooks must have ate half of my crab Rangoons and the rice container seemed like it was eaten out of.. terrible cold food, bad service and overall disgusting will not be going back there ever again!

Ordered take out Chicken Egg Foo Young. Worst I've ever had. Even the rice was subpar. I won't order from them ever again.

It did not taste good at all! Bad place don't recommend it. Me and my grandma got the chicken lo mein and it tasted disgusting

The fact that their idea of chow mein is all bean sprouts should tell you something about this restaurant

This buffet was terrible! NEVER AGAIN! The buffet is very small and you have limited options. We got there around noon and there were a handful of folks there, and the buffet was practically empty. Some of the pans were empty when we arrived, and we're still empty when we left. I wouldn't feed this poor excuse of Chinese food to my dog.

Wow! The quality of food here must vacillate like crazy! Made the mistake of stopping without Yelping first. I now note that some folks feel as though this place is a reincarnation of The Maisonette in Chinese clothes and others would not revisit if the food were free! Stopped on a weekday and made the mistake of getting the buffet. Bill must buy pre-breaded chicken scraps by the 55 gallon drum, as almost every entree was made with these deep-fried little cardiologist's dreams. They were presented with a wide variety of sauces which to the confused diner all tasted the same. Mayhap another 55 gallon drum! They did use food coloring to make them look different however. " All were equally cold which added immensely to their appeal." he said, sarcasm dripping from his lips. One of these dishes which purportedly featured broccoli as a component had one lonely piece of broccoli which had been cooked for hours to remove any color, flavor, or nutritional value and had swum to the shore of the buffet vessel in search of salvation. Had it been a family pet it most certainly would have been time to put it to sleep, but no similar remedy came to mind for this poor veggie, so I just turned and walked away, depressed and forlorn. There were three entrees which were not of the fried chicken variety; one of which was the fried fishcake. This was the oddest item I've ever seen at a restaurant. It was roughly the size and shape of an ice cube. and made from the stuff that fell through all the grading sifters on the mechanical separator and collected on the bottom of the machine, retrieved and all mashed together to form a cube. The consistency was more like a baby food version of fish than actual fish. Yecch! Another was a beef pepper steak entree which was actually palatable, albeit overcooked, and a curried chicken dish which, when some was actually left in the serving container might have been palatable as well. In an effort to keep prices low, however, no coconut milk was sacrificed in the making of the curry. Even the chili oil lacked sufficient chilies to flavor the oil adequately, so there was no masking the taste of this stuff. The egg rolls were 100% cabbage filled, lovingly made in a factory somewhere in Boise.

I've been to Bill Hwang's so many times since I was little. I moved back up to Akron after living in different states for the past four and a half years, and when my boyfriend's family mentioned getting Bill's for dinner that night, I was taken back to my childhood of coming here. Always had good food. Either they completely redid their food or they're slacking or I just haven't had it in awhile.. but it was pretty gross. I got my usual Roast Pork Lo Mein. It was greasy.. some of the noodles were extremely overcooked and there was no sight of any vegetables. Maybe I'm spoiled but usually lo mein comes with veggies? Whatever happened to the Bill's I remember? Probably not getting them again unless we're desparate for Chinese.

Great food, great service, great prices. If looking for cheap Chinese food, this is the best place in Akron. Portions were large, yet the quality remained consistent. If looking for fancy dinner, maybe not the best place as the decor is a touch outdated. But otherwise place is clean and bright.

Bill Hwang's is a casual, inexpensive, sit down Chinese restaurant on busy Canton. Rd in Akron. The place was clean, and decently decorated. They have several buffet stations which is filled for both lunch ($5.98) and dinner ($7.98). Their buffet selection is plentiful and their food was tasty. They had a relatively good salad bar, at least 15 types of entrees, four types of soups, and 8 types of desserts (with fresh Watermelon and other fruit). In addition to their buffet, they also have a full menu with a full page of lunch specials, and daily specials ($4.95). The next time I visit Bill Hwang's, I am going to order off the menu because while the food on the buffet was tasty, a few of them looked dry sitting on the warming table. Our server was friendly and efficient. She cleared our plates regularly and kept our glasses filled. I believe Bill's to be a decent and inexpensive place to go if you want some sit-down, served cheap eats. PS: They do not take credit cards, only cash.
