The service is always impeccable. The food is delicious and the employees all make it such a wonderful dining experience. We will continue to give The Merchant Tavern the highest recognition for this establishment.

The food here is so good but they have some weird policies now that make the experience a bit inhospitable. I ordered a soda and they told me that I'm only allowed a single refill of my soda the entire meal. If they're going to limit soda refills, then they shouldn't be charging 4 dollars for a soda. It's not like it was from a can or bottle either, just a normal fountain soda that costs the business pennies. At one point the waitress offered a refill but my soda was still 1/3 full, so I had to tell her no and have her come back because I had to ration my soda, which left a very bad taste in my mouth.

I also love their burgers but I'm trying to eat a little more healthy. So I tried to order their mixed vegetables as a side substitution, expecting an upcharge but happy to pay it. Instead I was told that there are NO side substitutions at all for burgers. I understand if the side substitution was something like mac n cheese, that might require a special dish, but all I was asking for is a pile of veggies instead of a pile of fries. I left half my meal on the plate because my only option was fries and I didn't want to eat those.

Finally, I went back and forth on mentioning this in my review because they did apologize and make it right, but there was metal fried into our appetizer. They apologized, gave us the appetizer for free, and also gave us a free dessert, so we're not particularly upset about it. But if the young kid we were dining with had been the one to eat a piece of metal, we would be having a very different conversation here, and that could've easily happened.

I have to imagine some of these policies that grated on me are new, I know I've been to this restaurant many times before and never been limited on soda refills, maybe it's a shortstaffed thing to keep them from running back and forth, or maybe a larger party thing because I was there with a lot of people? But this whole experience made me sad, because I really love this restaurant and have been here quite a few times, but next time we consider it we're going to be thinking about their lack of support for healthy sides and overpriced one-refill sodas and potentially skipping, despite the amazing food.

Anyway the brie burger and the nachos are mindblowing.

Ordered 4 salmon salads which were almost totally raw all around. I don’t mind sushi IF the fish is food grade that can be served rare. However, I think the temperature of their salmon violated food safety. The cook redid the salmon but brought back proteins that were 1/2 the size.

Vegetarian options: Parking is difficult

Dietary restrictions: Not the place for that

Pretty good food, but when it comes for the cost of what you’re eating.. unfortunately not worth it. The amount of money they charge is insane and if you ask for 1 side of sauce, they charge extra. Just expect to pay a crazy amount when going. Wish they would lower the price to what the food is truly worth.

The Merchant Tavern is a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a good meal. The rigatoni Bolognese was terrific! The drinks are always delicious. The chicken sandwiches are good but tell them to put the sauce on the side. They are heavy handed with the thick sauces and it takes away from the other condiments like slaw and special seasoned mayo. The fries are so good! The muscles are great! Burgers are a win!! Salads are pleasing to the eye and pallet.
Enjoy yourself and you will not leave hungry!!!!

We were in the "dining room" and it was terribly loud and hard to carry on a conversation. Also, there were eight of us and we had to pay an $80 deposit and $2.25 fee just to make a reservation. There was also a fee added to use a credit card to pay the bill.

Dietary restrictions: The server was very helpful with info.

One of my favorite places for date night ! The Thai mussels are the best . The last waitress we had wasn’t great .. idk if she was new ? Everything I asked for she said they didn’t have . No steak sauce ect … besides her attitude everything was great !

The food was below average. It was the service that was not only lacking attention but the staff was rude. I had hoped for much better given previous reviews and curb appeal.

They got rid of the garlic butter mussels. Upped the price to $18 on Thai mussels. That plus two beers came to almost $40. That’s before leaving a tip too. Not to mention the mussels were actually listed as $19 on my bill. Highway robbery. The greed is out of control everywhere.

First time here. Tried steak fondue for appetizer, it was like eating rubber. Then had the pork chop. It had no flavor and was undercooked. Politely sent it back and got a burger, ate half and left. This place tries to be a high end restaurant and prices themselves as one, but.. absolutely not.

First time being here and I’ll never return. Walked in to no host waiting, then when the host did come over apparently it was hard to accommodate my family of 4 (1 infant) due to not having a reservation and 70% of the restaurant was empty still. In addition, once we were seated in a back corner and were told we needed to be done within a hour.

They don’t have accommodations for any baby changing table in the restrooms.

We ordered my kids food (buttered noodles and chicken tenders) to find out it’s $12 each. Their prices were way over priced for the kind of food you would get at other restaurants. My family had their food come out and finished eating while my food never came out. My waiter finally came back asking if I received my food being confused (from my experiences the waiters typically bring your food out) this goes to show in the hour of us being there he checked on us once after he took our orders and brought my family their orders.

They rushed to get my food completed which left me with 10 minutes to “be done” so I sent the food back. Upon returning the food the waiter put his hands up like he was annoyed I’m sending the food back. The buttered noodles, chicken tenders and a salad for my wife +1 drink costed $85+ and I didn’t even eat!

To top it off I come to leave a review and see someone stating they were charged a fee for using a credit card which I was never told about by my waiter.

Horrible experience.
