Let me preface this review by saying we normally love this place, but we had a terrible experience today! We ordered our food and got it pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our fries looked like what you get at the bottom of the bag. All tiny pieces with no real fries. They could only be eaten with a fork. I took them to the counter only to wait more than 10 minutes before anyone helped. The counter was at least 4 deep with customers, yet no one was at the counter. People were waiting for food and being ignored. I finally explained what I needed help with, and 7 minutes later I had a new container of french fries pieces. It was a little unbelievable. We rarely complain about an experience, but this one was really not good. Poor customer service. The hot dogs were good, but mine were cold by the time I got back to the table. We have never had a problem before, and, hopefully, this was just a bad day for them, but food is too expensive right now and this tarnished our view of the restaurant. We won't visit again for a while.

Kind of torn between 3 and 4 stars, but going to sit with 3 on this one. Place is beyond clean! I didn't know what to expect, but it is cleaner than most places out there. I wondered how many seats would be inside after I watched a long line around the building in the drive thru, but there was enough for a decent group of people. Pricing doesn't seem out of control by any means. Four of us at for 40 bucks. Hot dog wise: I was a bit underwhelmed. There were smaller than expected for a hot dog place and while the mac and cheese dog was good, it wasn't anything over the top at all. Now, if you are a fry eater, this is the place to go. I ordered a regular order of hot fries and they filled an entire plate. I was hoping for better flavor since it seemed like a "specialty" of theirs, but honestly it tasted like any normal type table hot sauce. Even so, if you like fries, you will get a lot of them! Glad we went and if needing something quick, we would go again!

Close to Steele High School Amherst, Ohio.Biggest problem was the young lsdy who took my order. Didnt know the register well. I asked for a recco as it was my first time. Answer, "I dont like hot dogs!" Okay then.

Moved to Amherst from Indiana just under 2 years ago and had multiple locals sing the praises of HDH as if it were a Mecca of some kind. My wife and I have eaten here multiple times in the past 2 years and I can comfortably say this place is "meh."It has a nice atmosphere and the service is good, but there is absolutely nothing special about the food here. It all looks and tastes like concession-stand/gas station fare that is bulk purchased from Gordon Food Service, but with an extra 20% price markup from what it should be.We will continue to give them our occasional business because it's important to us to support local businesses wherever we may live. It is an enjoyable place to pop over to and grab a snack when the weather is nice outside and you want to go for a cruise, but at the end of the day it's overpriced gas station food.

Service was just what you would expect from a transfer that doesn’t know how to communicate. Food was just ok. Kinda dirty tasting. Wienerschnitzel is much better. We ate in and everything needed wiped down. Ketchup,salt and pepper were sticky.

Hot Dog Heaven is almost perfect! The food tastes amazing, the building got rebuilt and now there is a balcony to sit on, and it's just perfect! The only thing that went wrong with the place is when I tried to order one of the packs, but I accidentally ordered it separately from a pack, and they charged me more without telling me if I wanted the pack or not.Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs except for the 2nd floor.
