What everyone else is saying about how great the place is AND you have a jukebox for music (and that’s becoming a rare thing)

One of the worst experiences I have had. I'm shocked by the 5 star reviews, they were why I decided to come here in the first place. To start off, all I ordered was a side of nachos and 2 chicken salad sandwiches. They asked me to wait 30-40 minutes before I came to pick up the food. That was no problem because they may have been pretty busy. After the full 40 minutes they asked for, I showed up. They had not even started making the order. There were maybe 12 people in there, MAYBE, all of which had been taken care of. The chicken salad was pre made and only had to be scooped into the bread, the nachos were pre made and just had to be scooped into the takeaway cups, and finally the chips were just bagged chips that had to be thrown in the bag. I waited for 30 minutes. They were not helping anybody in the bar at that point. They were not working on any other orders. I still do not understand how it possibly took them 30 minutes to put together an order that was just glorified scooping. But I think what made this experience even worse was the clientele. There were two groups in the bar that night. The one group was filled with middle aged racist, misogynistic white men. I had to listen to them justify cops killing black men, demean BLM protests, recall times they attacked women, and them fighting black men who they only backed off from because otherwise they "would've gotten killed." If these are your kind of people then Joan's Tavern is your place to be because they were clearly regulars. You have to wait 70 minutes from the time you place an order on the phone until you get your disgusting cold, bland food. Then while you wait inside for 30 of those minutes you can listen to 1940s ideology from disgruntled white guys. I will NEVER step place in that bar again. It's not like I got good food at the end of this. It was incredibly overpriced to add more insult to injury. This is a realistic depiction of Joan's Tavern. I'm sure there are people who want this kind of place, but I certainly do not.***Update response to owner:I do not wish to meet after this experience, but I can tell you this happened on Wednesday July 19, 2023. I know I had arrived at your bar just before 9:13 p.m. when I checked my texts from that night. It was the group of guys at the tables. When you check your cameras you can see who they were because at one point one of the guys walked up to the bar and stood there for about 1-2 minutes before sitting back down because they weren't served in that time, and then another walked around to the kitchen area to ask the server if she needed his help because of how long it was taking her. There was some Christian sitcom playing on the tv through YouTube I believe, similar to 7th Heaven if not that, if this is enough detail to prove this really happened. I think there were 3 or more older women seated closer to the door also to further that I WAS THERE. I did not make this up, this absolutely happened.Kid-friendliness: I would NEVER bring a child around these types of people!!!!!

I can’t believe it took the wife and I so long to finally make a visit to Joan’s! But we had a free night without the kids. It was great! The atmosphere, the drinks, and the company. We were instantly greeted with a smile and handshake from Alex. We definitely plan to return!

Nice little cozy bar in downtown Ashland area but stuff is priced high there. $3.50 for another light bottle. And they wanted $8 for a chicken salad. Sandwich and chips seemed awful high to me so I didn't get

Great service, food and people. Customers all speak and you get to know everyone there. Alex (the Owner) knows how to run a pub, drinks are great. Ashland's version of "Cheers"
