Another sad example of the self destruction caused by the patrons that frequent the bar . Years ago it was a safe and friendly environment . Somewhere I'd arrange to meet with friends or family on many different occasions. Ashtabula, ohio has suffered great losses and the moral compass it seemed all stood for has dwindled away. And now our neighborhoods and businesses have witnessed these affects. Let's save our community and strive for better Tomorrow for our children they are the future.

Let me say this, about 15 years ago Chic's is the place myself and my best friend Robin McDaniel Roebuck used to go to in the afternoon after we completed our errands, finished work for the day, etc, usually between 2:00-5:00PM until our men got off work and usually met us there. We had no fears or thoughts that it was improper to bring our 2 young boys with us after they got off school either. They would sit at a table right behind us eating chips, drinking soda, playing the bowling game I believe that was there. But yes we did have them out of there by 5-6pm before it got busier and people would start feeling the effects of the alcohol they had been consuming. Also, no we never got any more impaired than a parent that drink's a few glasses of wine at dinner or whatnot and we never drove , we lived off of the street by the old Chinese restaurant so we would walk. It was all blue color, working rednecks, they would get off work at AIM and cash their checks there every week. So during the day the only people in there would be a few old timers , maybe a 3rd shifter or 2, and us women that liked to have a cold beer instead of sipping coffee while we chatted with people we knew and saw regularly. There were no fights, or that stuff happening. Yes it is a bar, I'm not saying there never was incidents or stupidity that happened then, but it didn't happen even a quarter of the time that goes on now. Don't misunderstand me thinking it's gone down hill due to any race, age of people frequenting there or any one thing, it's just the way everyone and everything has went downhill and turning into a cold, heartless greedy, no compassion nor integrity scary, sad place the world is becoming. The majority of people are no longer caring, kind, respectful people, they are looking out for #1, usually most will no longer help a person out unless there is something in it for them, maybe not immediately, but they will gain something if they are going out of their way in even a minute way they expect to reap some type of reward for doing the neighborly, friendly, caring thing that used to be done without a single thought if you were able to help out. But then you must also look at it from the point of view that nowadays there are so many people trying to get things handed to them or whatever with their sense of entitlement and no work ethics or any other type of ethics or honor and respect for anyone anymore. So they would rather steal, beg, cheat,or whatever is easiest for them to get what they want even if they are mentally and physically capable of working hard to get what they need or want so people have become less giving and caring because they never know who's trying to scam them. So anyway, I just wanted to say that Chic's Bar is no longer a place I feel like home in while I'm there. Bless you all and please do something kind for someone even if it's just a compliment on work they have completed or a accomplishment someone has done, take five minutes of your time and ask the elderly man or woman if you can help them with carrying groceries, taking out their trash, anything that might make this world a little better than it has evolved into.

Very homey place & the employees are very attentive. I usually order a mixed drink or a Dr. Pepper. I do like it.
