Casa Nueva got that home-style warmth with a twist of creativity. The food had great flavor and a real authentic base you can taste the freshness and care behind the ingredients. Service was cool, not overbearing, just right. The atmosphere felt lively but calm the kind of place where you can slow down and actually enjoy your meal. This was the worst restaurant I've ever been to. It’s definitely not authentic Mexican food — the salsas weren’t spicy at all, and the “chorizo” was just ground beef. My husband ordered a sweet tea that didn’t even have sugar. The place looked old and dirty, and the food tasted terrible. I don’t understand how anyone could consider this one of the best Mexican restaurants in Ohio.

The absolute best restaurant in town. It’s such a welcoming and inclusive environment. The food is so good. I love their seasonal offerings. Great margaritas too! And I love checking out the art. I’ve even bought a few pieces.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in the region, bar none. I made online reservations (easy) and the hostess provided a great table, on time at the reservation time. The food was OFF THE CHARTS! good (as always). I especially like their refried beans with a little cheese on top. Beer selection was great. EVERY time I get back to my home college town, I stop in at Casa. You cannot go wrong. Final tip about tipping: They are a co-op so they don't take tips, so you cannot add it into your bill. I leave a cash tip on the table when I leave and let them sort it out :)

Really good vegan options, informed staff, and a wonderful place to eat at this worker-owned collective that doesn't do tipping. Had the giant vegan burrito, tofu fries, and chips and BBQ salsa. Incredible!

My husband and I were working our way back to NC after a long weekend of visiting friends and antiquing all over Ohio. Visited a local vintage store and asked the clerk for a lunch recommendation. Casa Nueva was the nearest so we opted for it. What a fantastic experience! Hubby had the burrito, I had street tacos. Our only complaint is we couldn’t haven’t eaten more! All the ingredients are fresh, assembled with imagination. The next time we head to Ohio, we’ll m make a special trip to Athens to visit Casa Nueva!

I graduated from OU in 2018, and Casa Nueva was my favorite restaurant on campus. My husband and I make a trip back down to OU once or twice a year just for Casa! Their food is always yummy and so fresh!
I had lunch with my daughter yesterday for the first time and I am ashamed I have not eaten here sooner! Our service was outstanding, the bar drinks were on spot and I don’t even have words for how amazing your roasted chicken is!!!

When Casa is closed, everyone in Athens wanders around, wondering what to do with themselves. Casa is worker-owned, uses ethically sourced food, and it is DELICIOUS. Salsa Verde is a must for everything, and yes, you'll pay more for the Queso, but you'll be rewarded with REAL CHEESE. The price includes the tip. I see people complain about service, but personally, I don't want some chain server hounding me every ten seconds about "how everything is tasting." Ugh. Casa is where I come for date night, music and to catch up with old friends. If you want to experience Athens, you gotta eat here. Local art. Local music. Local food. Employees who I have known for years. The hang is the thing.

Cool, bohemian space with amazing fresh food. Literally everything is good. Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. Coloring pages and crayons for kids. No parking lot, but street parking is usually easy enough to find.
