45 minutes for online order and they gave me the wrong persons order.

Let me start by saying: I love Jimmy John’s sandwiches. I used to work at a franchise in Columbus for nearly two years, both as an inshop and a manager, so I know this business inside and out. But this particular location on Court Street? It’s a joke—and not the funny kind.

I get cravings for these subs maybe two or three times a year, and without fail, there’s a 50/50 chance they’re out of bread. Bread. The foundation of the entire menu. How does a sandwich shop not have bread? That’s like a gas station with no gas.

And don’t get it twisted—I’m not blaming the workers. I know what it’s like behind the counter. I’ve put in thousands of hours at Jimmy John’s and can count on one hand the number of times we ran out of bread. You know why? Because we had competent management. Managers who understood basic prep, who knew how to run a store, who didn’t let the place fall apart daily.

The fact that this keeps happening means one thing: the management at this location is either completely checked out or totally incompetent. You don’t get to say you’re “freaky fast” when customers are standing around for 30 minutes waiting on basic prep that should’ve been done hours earlier.

At this point, walking by and not seeing a “We’re out of bread” sign feels like a miracle. If I’m this frustrated only showing up a couple times a year, I can’t imagine how fed up regular customers must be.

The food is great—but none of that matters if the manager can’t do the absolute bare minimum to keep the store functioning. Fix it.

Probably the saltiest sub I've ever eaten in my life on top of every part of it being older than the store itself.. just get subway or order a sub from a local pizza joint

I originally had a disappointing experience at this location on a Friday night at 8:30 PM, but I recently returned on a Tuesday night and had a much better visit.

During my previous visit, the music was blasting at an uncomfortably high volume, making it difficult to order, and the playlist featured explicit rap, which didn’t create the most welcoming atmosphere. On top of that, one of our sandwiches had burned bread—something we didn’t notice until we were halfway through, making the rest inedible. It was not the quality I expect from Jimmy John’s.

However, when I visited again on a Tuesday night, the experience was completely different. The environment was much more inviting, the food was great, and everything was up to the usual standard I expect. I’m glad to see that my previous experience may have just been an off night, and I appreciate the improvement.

I regret not looking at the reviews before dining but I stopped into this jimmy johns on a roadtrip as i have food allergies and every jimmy johns has been extremely helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately, i had a different experience with this jimmy johns as when i ordered and asked for a glove change due to having a gluten allergy, i was met with confused and condescending looks. i proceeded to order a lettuce wrap as i always get them from jimmy johns, and the lady kept cutting me off telling me i wasnt ordering a certain sandwich correctly. after i restated what i wanted three different times, the lady told the guy making the sandwiches how i wanted a glove change for my sandwich. He said “well i dont have to do that and i dont see that happening but whatever.” He proceeded to make my sandwich with bread when that was never on the order to begin with and i stated how i have a gluten allergy. We went back to get it fixed and he said “whats wrong now” and was very short. as we were trying to explain why i needed my sandwich remade, he yanked the receipt out of my moms hand and rolled his eyes. he proceeded to be extremely rude while remaking it and basically gave me a bunch of lettuce with one piece of meat. I am always usually understanding of people giving poor customer service and chalk it up to them having a bad day, but this was beyond bad customer service. As someone who has worked firsthand with food allergies and having them myself, I know just how serious it needs to be taken. I am glad i was able to catch it in time because if not, I would’ve gotten extremely sick. I have never had issues with any other jimmy johns, so I know this is not normal customer service for this company. Just want to leave this review for anyone else that has food allergies or friends that have allergies to steer clear from this location.

We have a member of our party with significant allergies- one being gluten. We often eat at Jimmy Johns as they are USUALLY allergy friendly and offer lettuce wraps. We have never been to this location and will NEVER go to this location again!
The woman at the register was rude, condescending , and acted like it was a huge deal to ask for gloves to be changed (due to cross contamination). She got the order wrong, even after we gave her the order 3 times. (We were the only ones in line.) When she told the man we asked for gloves to be changed he responded “I don’t have to, but I guess I will!” W O W!! Food allergies, asked politely if they could change gloves, and that is the reply!!
However, we didn’t know this until we had picked up our order from the counter. We ordered 2 unwiches- the meat was wrong, the unwich for the allergy was on bread, there was mayonnaise and cheese (also a dairy allergy and asked for NO mayo or cheese). All 3 sandwiches were incorrect, from the meat, to the toppings. Our third sandwich was a regular, simple roast beef. It also was wrong. 2 of us decided to keep our sandwiches even though they were incorrect due to how rude the staff was.
When I went back in to get the correct order for the member of our party with allergies, he snatched the receipt and yelled at me to just tell him what I wanted that he had Hundreds of orders…. Uh, exaggerate much? They were not busy and the phone was not ringing, they did not seem to be busy making orders at all. He put ONE piece of meat on the unwich (Big John) rolled it up and handed it back.
I feel empathy for the proprietor of this location as I am sure they are unaware of how rude, incompetent and disrespectful their employees are to customers. If you want your order correct and don’t want to be treated poorly, DO NOT got to the Jimmy Johns near Ohio University in Athens! So sad.

Dietary restrictions: Go to a different Jimmy Johns!

Ordered food over an hr prior to calling in to the store to check. By the time food arrived almost an hr 30-45 mins to receive the meal. I am 10 mins from the store. This is ridiculous.

As a delivery driver, I go to a lot of stores, but this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The cashier treated me with no respect at all, like I wasn’t even a real person. I get that some people might not like delivery drivers, but basic courtesy should still be a thing. Instead, I was met with a rude attitude and zero helpfulness. It’s frustrating when I’m just trying to do my job and get treated like this. Hope management takes this seriously because this kind of behavior is not okay.

Just gave us 4 sandwiches and the bread was so hard they were inedible. By far the worst Jimmy Johns in Ohio.

I ordered a slim 2. The bread came out hard, so I requested fresher bread (keeping the same meat). The younger, first kid to greet me seemed a bit confused, but happy to exchange. Then the lead came over and gave me attitude, rolling eyes and acted like I was crazy for even asking for fresh bread. Not a great experience as I was polite, but simply wanted bread that wasn’t hard.

Mr. johns. I came to you for refuge on a hungover Sunday morning. Requesting a tuna sandwich. I was left with a half empty slab of bread. Literally one scoop of tuna in the middle (at least 2 inches of straight up bread on either side of it) and hardly any lettuce. I understand, you’re busy, but I feel unloved. Discarded. I expected better Jimmy. I know you’re busy, or I would’ve brought it back, because this was not worth 9 dollars. It was emptier than my heart this very Sunday morning.

Waited for 10-15 minutes. The lady took a phone call after I got in line (I was the only one there) she took a phone order for 10 minutes, hung up the phone then told me they weren’t accepting orders in person today. I could order on the app but it would take a few hours. This is noon on a Friday. Waste of time. If yall can’t handle making food close your restaurant.

I ordered my food on the app last night around 7:30 pm. I live 5 minutes from the store and I understand delays however it was nearly 8:30 pm before I even had a notification that my food was out for delivery. Again I understand delays because I also work in food. I waited 33 minutes from the out for delivery notification before I called the store because we were now at almost an hour and a half wait. The manager on duty was extremely disrespectful and rude and asked “well what do you want me to do? Do you want to cancel the order?”. Didn’t even apologize even once nor did he offer to even look into what was causing the delay. Zero empathy at all. I’m not usually one to go up the ladder with complaints however I then called today around 11:45 am to speak to a different manager about last nights incident. I got to speak to Andrew who was equally just as rude and although he did apologize, he very rudely said “I’ll let night shift know” and then hung up. Not a thank you for bringing this to my attention. No have a nice day. Just attitude and hanging up. I never got the name of the rude night manager but this kind of behavior is not okay from either of the managers I dealt with and long order times are a consistent problem at this location so I was just making someone aware that it was becoming a regular issue. Terrible service from the Athens Ohio location. I order from her quite frequently and sadly it’s the only one in the area so I may just have to take my business elsewhere altogether if this is how customers are going to be treated.
