Behind the counter is an old school menu board with a long list of delicious choices at reasonable prices. To the left there's a large glass case with homemade sides such as macaroni salad, four bean salad and delicious desserts to name a few.
It's as if a favorite aunt decided to open a restaurant and serve the family classics daily.
The reason it's worth the drive is because it's not easy to find a place that makes fried chicken that tastes like what a loved one you still miss used to make it in their cast iron skillet on top of the stove.
The crispy fried chicken here unlocks a flavor memory for a lot of us and that's not so easy to find these days.
For the decor, think unpretentious, practical and family friendly. Enjoy the fact the history of this restaurant is displayed. Be glad that there are still places like this one with good food, good prices, local pride and handcrafted wreath on the hearth.

There is no product in America that cannot be made cheaper and sold for more. Miller's did this with the macaroni salad, which used to be the best in the state. I have been a customer for more than fifty years. I will not return until I am assured that they have restored the original recipe. So disappointed.

Miller’s Chicken is around 45 miles from where I live, but I used to work near it. It was always a great spot to lunch, and these day whenever I’m in Athens I always make a point to visit.

I just happened to park near this business to take a walk and do some geocaching and decided up on my return to grab some lunch, what a great decision! The best liver and gizzards I have ever had! Great little place for sure, they also had some delicious looking pies.

We drove over an hour to try this restaurant because we had heard such great things about the food. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we were met with rudeness and eye rolls from the host. Before we even made it fully inside, we were repeatedly told to “shut the door” in a very unwelcoming tone. When we asked about ordering food to go—since we could see the restaurant was busy and did not want to inconvenience them—we were curtly told there was no room for us, even though we weren’t asking to be seated. When we requested to speak with the manager about how we were treated, the host tried to dismiss our concerns as if they were no big deal. Once we had the chance to speak to the manager, it was obvious that this is usual behavior with their staff and clearly, not frowned upon. After driving such a long way and looking forward to trying this place, the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy from the staff completely overshadowed any excitement we had. Good food can only take a restaurant so far—customer service matters just as much. Sadly, based on this experience, we won’t be returning and cannot recommend it to others.
