Miller’s Chicken is around 45 miles from where I live, but I used to work near it. It was always a great spot to lunch, and these day whenever I’m in Athens I always make a point to visit.

I just happened to park near this business to take a walk and do some geocaching and decided up on my return to grab some lunch, what a great decision! The best liver and gizzards I have ever had! Great little place for sure, they also had some delicious looking pies.

We drove over an hour to try this restaurant because we had heard such great things about the food. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we were met with rudeness and eye rolls from the host. Before we even made it fully inside, we were repeatedly told to “shut the door” in a very unwelcoming tone. When we asked about ordering food to go—since we could see the restaurant was busy and did not want to inconvenience them—we were curtly told there was no room for us, even though we weren’t asking to be seated. When we requested to speak with the manager about how we were treated, the host tried to dismiss our concerns as if they were no big deal. Once we had the chance to speak to the manager, it was obvious that this is usual behavior with their staff and clearly, not frowned upon. After driving such a long way and looking forward to trying this place, the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy from the staff completely overshadowed any excitement we had. Good food can only take a restaurant so far—customer service matters just as much. Sadly, based on this experience, we won’t be returning and cannot recommend it to others.

I couldn't detect any crab in the crab cake. Mostly deep fried food. Self serve. Be sure to ask for condiments if you want them.

The chicken was phenomenal but the sides were very disappointing. The green beans weren’t seasoned at all and the mashed potatoes were watery and unseasoned as well. I’m assuming they were made from a box. They also forgot my macaroni and cheese and the employee at the counter wasn’t very friendly either. I’ll return for the chicken and hope that they improve their sides! A little salt and pepper would do wonders.

Miller’s Chicken is hands-down the best fried chicken in Athens—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned every time. The sides are just as delicious, especially the mashed potatoes and coleslaw, making every meal feel homemade. The portions are generous for the price, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming.
