Restaurant Salaam is not only my favorite Athens restaurant, it is possibly one of my favorite restaurants I have ever visited. The food is consistently excellent (the ribeye and the salmon are two of my favorites), the atmosphere is cozy and inviting (the decor has so many cool things to look at while you're dining), and the service is always awesome. Keri and the rest of the staff work hard to ensure that you have the best dining experience possible. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The absolute best, and I try to visit every time I can return to Athens. The ambience is cozy, warm, and welcoming with lots of colorful textiles that just feels comforting. The food is always a delicious, high quality, flavorful delight and I especially love getting free bread to start (who doesnt??). The wine selection is great and the coconut curry chicken is to die for. Service is always excellent and I want to give extra kudos for the restaurant providing sippy cups (not just plastic cups with lids, like reusable washable ones as just part of their dishware) and for having toddler toilet seats for those with potty training kids like me. A versatile spot for a casual outing but also can feel like a fancy date night spot too.

A lovely spot all around. The service is friendly, food is delicious and the space is beautiful. Every plate is intentionally made with local & ethically sourced ingredients and the owners are great humans. Each and every plate feels like a warm hug.

In addition to providing exceptional restaurant service, Restaurant Salaam has also catered special events. Hilarie and her team catered my daughter’s wedding in 2019, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. To fully appreciate how incredible the food was, a little context is helpful: we had our East Coast Italian family visiting. Italian weddings in New York and New Jersey are typically lavish, black-tie, multi-course, sit-down affairs featuring lobster, prime rib, and elaborate dessert displays stretching across eight-foot Venetian tables.
Even with “gourmet luxury” as their standard for wedding celebrations, our East Coast Italian family was profoundly impressed with the cuisine Restaurant Salaam served. They enthusiastically declared it the best food they had ever enjoyed at a wedding and were genuinely stunned by both the beauty and the presentation of each dish.
I regret that I do not have photos to share and that it has taken me nearly seven years to write this review.
Thank you to Hilarie and the entire Restaurant Salaam staff for your extraordinary artistry, culinary excellence, and professionalism. You helped make my daughter’s wedding a truly classy and memorable celebration where our guests were treated to a delicious, beautiful, and altogether remarkable meal.
