Mitchell's Ice Cream (Avon Shop)

I came in on Sunday night and absolutely loved it! The short blonde worker whose name started with an R was an ABSOLUTE doll, oh God she was a wonder and she made my entire day. My dog recently passed away and I truly think she’s Heaven sent. That girl is one amazing worker who truly cares about her job AND the environment and atmosphere for the customers.

mitchell's ice cream is delicious, even when it's below freezing outside. how busy the place is, every day, is a testament to that fact. the only issue I have with this place is their lack of flavors (a lot of the ice cream flavors seem like spins off another flavor, lacking variety....) their seasonal flavors are awesome* (for spring and summer) however, fall and winter <-- especially winter, are miserable. I went to try ALL of the seasonal flavors this month and everything was super terrible, which is not normal for mitchells. they need to work on this. I understand they want to incorporate the season (i.e. eggnog, peppermint stick, cinnamon....) but those flavors just are NOT good as ice cream. the cinnamon induced an immediate cough reflex and the eggnog tasted like a stomach ache.

also, if some of your seasonal flavors are very popular, why wouldn't you want to add said flavor to your always available ice cream?

it would also be nice to have more sorbet flavors (other than two....) and I wish they'd offer frozen yogurt (I'd be thrilled with plain tart) they certainly don't look out for those who are lactose intolerant or want a lower fat alternative.

Vegetarian options: add frozen yogurt!

Dietary restrictions: VERY limited. if you have a milk allergy or lactose intolerant, you have 2 options.

Parking: if it is busy, the parking lot in avon is very small, and so many people drive larger vehicles (SUVs) so it makes it difficult to pull in and out.

Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Tables were clean and they have a kid’s area with kid sized tables and chairs with crayons and paper to color on.

I take it this chain is a bit of an institution in the area. The service was efficient and friendly, and the space is a really bright, homey place to sit and have an ice cream treat. I was really disappointed in the mint chocolate chip ice cream I got. The chocolate chips or chunks in this flavor make or break it, and in this case they ruined it. There were flecks of chocolate, which were OK, and then large chunks, which had an awful, off-putting, gummy texture. I don't know if there was a problem with this batch or if this is typical, but I was a little shocked how bad it was.
