We love everything about Giovanni's! We chose to sit in the bar as we enjoy the energy however it is louder than the restaurant side.
Wonderful service and the food is excellent. Would definitely go again. The appetizer calamari steak is amazing.
Wonderful service plus very reasonable priced entrees in a white table cloth atmosphere is the go to place for a formal experience. Have never been disappointed plus ample close up parking makes it even more enjoyable.
Our server, Carla, is terrific. We're regulars. Fine Carla a Gold Star. She and Pierre always make us feel welcome.
My companion and myself our first visit was absolutely wonderful. The greeting the service, the food all made for an exquisite evening.
This was our second visit. Food is amazing and hot. Drinks are spot on and service is great. Everyone is welcoming and helpful!
Excellent preparation and presentation of food! Special clam chowder could have been served a little hotter than mildly warm. Outstanding wine list and Barolo we had. Service was very good from Eugene! The gnocchi and the veal chop parmagiana were fabulous !
Outstanding, as usual. Carl is always welcoming and the vibe so good. Mike is an outstanding server! My wife never strays from the horseradish crusted halibut and our friend enjoyed the clam bake special. The martinis are ice cold and there is a great wine selection both by the glass and by the bottle. It was a great place to celebrate my wife's birthday with great friends. We will be back in December for sure, if not sooner. Cheers!
The food was delicious and the service exceptional. We love the atmosphere, and the great food choices. You never can be disappointment in this iconic restaurant.
What a delightful experience. My younger sister turned 70. Everything from her Dover Sole to her B&B was fine with excellence. Thank you.

Outstanding experience. It was I and my wife's anniversary dinner. I arranged for the flowers to be delivered to the restaurant before our reservation time and be placed on a table. - and sure, they were there when a host took us to our table. Big smile on my wife's face. Browny point :). We had steak tartar (what a presentation! Bravo! Honestly, probably the best tartar I've ever had), calamari (that capers sauce was a hit), then beet salad and Prosciutto grapefruit salad. - both extraordinary. For the main course we both had Halibut. We just came from Florida, where we ate seafood every day. But nothing we had came even close to this thick, but absolutely perfectly cooked, moist and flaky chunk of this deep ocean fish. It tasted so fresh, as if it was just bought off the coast of Alaska. Smashing success and big props to the chef! Definitely coming back, and you better have that Halibut again! 😉. BTW, our drinks (Negroni and raspberry martini) were excellent too. Grazie mille!
The food was incredibly delicious. The service was warm and attentive. We tried the halibut ceviche — delightful. The Italian wedding soup was flavorful and not too salty! I had the cioppino which was perfect with the buttery polenta soaking up the seafood flavors and tomato sauce. The linguini and pappardelle were also perfectly prepared. We had a lovely time at Giovanni's and look forward to dining there again.
I was notified about 2hrs before our reservation that we would be seated in the lounge even though reservation was made the week prior. Having not been there before I was not sure what to expect but the room was fine. Had option to order entree from lounge or regular menu. Lounge menu prices were much more appropriate. Dinner menu pricey. One member of our party ordered halibut $55, no sides or salad and flavor was nothing great. Service was excellent. I would return since my dinner, pork cutlet, from lounge menu was very good and reasonably priced.
I never thought a free dessert could ruin an otherwise perfect meal. We celebrated our anniversary at Giovanni's. The meal was exceptional, and included table side preparation. After our entrees, we were surprised when our waiter brought out a dessert we didn't order. We were also confused by the single birthday candle in the scoops of ice cream. Our waiter happily announced "Happy Birthday", we exchanged confused looks and he followed up with "or happy anniversary or whatever." We paid the bill, and when our card was returned our waiter again said, "Happy birthday or whatever". If we decide to return to Giovanni's we will make sure that we aren't there to celebrate anything special.
I have gone to this restaurant for special occasions for 40 years. It is no longer going to be on my list.
