I liked the quiet, dim, more formal setting of this place. It's on the lower level of this strip of restaurants in Beachwood with dedicated parking but when it's busy, it can be hard to find a spot. Presentation of the dishes were good and taste of the dishes were great! I got the hot mandarin duck and chicken lettuce wraps and both were excellent. Prices were a bit high but the portions were reasonable so I always appreciate that. Service was quick and they automatically serve you hot tea, which is cute. I would come back again to try other menu items!

Update 16 years later so Ho Wah is still the now husband's family Chinese restaurant of choice. Food is still teriblely slimy/saucy, but now service is terrible. Prices have also skyrocketed. Our food took an hour to come out while other tables received theirs the server told me that's because we ordered appetizers. Um sure. I don't recommend this place.

Haven’t been here since I was a little kid and it remains excellent. Nothing trendy, just the classics done correctly. It wasn’t Sonny in the back and Lee trading barbs with my father while buttering my steamed rice like it was 35yrs ago, but it took me back. Glad we stopped.

We have been going to this place for over 30 years and it never disappoints. Some of the best Chinese food you can get and I was surprised to see some of the bad reviews because we have never gotten a bad meal here ever! Try it out!

Food is not like it used to be. Rice sticky and moist. Charging for sweet sauce. Charging the most, giving the least.

Where do I begin? With the rude server...the cold sesame beef dish...or the fact that, after sending the beef back and it returning cold, the server flat out said it couldn't be as he put it in the microwave for an extended period of time? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? The microwave??? Fast forward to my discussion with the manager who said, and I quote, "What am I supposed to do? Fire the guy? I'm short handed so I take what I can get. Next time you come just ask for a new server..."Ho Wah's has been a staple for years and a guaranteed visit by My family whenever we return to Ohio...but it's obvious poor management has led to unacceptable behavior. Too many deserving eateries in town to waste my time, money or future memories where it doesn't matter...sad.

My friend and I meet at this restaurant twice a month. I ordered take out yesterday and the food was absolutely disgusting. The breading on the sesame chicken was soggy and gross. I couldn't even eat it. The pepper steak had a lot of peppers and onions but what about the beef? I called the next day and spoke with the manager who told me I should have called the day I ordered and he would have had me bring the food back and give us another dinner. What restaurant asks you to bring back the awful food they gave me? He said since I did not eat my takeout food immediately, how does he know what happened. WHAT? This restaurant does not care about its customers at all. He said there are policies he must follow. How about giving customers edible food? He never offered any compensation or anything. I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS PLACE (WILL NOT CALL IT A RESTAURANT) AGAIN!!!!!! They do not care about their customers. They are only looking to make money off customers. DO NOT EAT HERE! IT IS GROSS!

Absolutely my favorite Chinese in NE Ohio. The service is always great and the food is always phenomenal. This past time I ordered Szechwan chicken and my boyfriend ordered sweet and sour chicken. Cannot wait to go back and eat more delicious food in a great atmosphere.

Ordered vegetable lo mein. The noodles were extremely dry with no flavor. The pork fried rice had no flavor either. Heard great reviews but was very disappointed. I spent $34 on veggie lo mein, a pint of pork fried rice and 2 egg rolls. Not worth the money.
