I have ALWAYS LOVED Maya's in Berea, since they opened! CARLOS WAS THE BEST MGR.! BUT, the last time I took a friend there, in May 2025, she had a FRUIT FLY CRAWLING IN HER FOOD! NOT flying around us, ACTUALLY IN HER FOOD! The sweet waitress said "oh, we have then in the kitchen & by the fruit at the bar!" We asked for the manager, who I'd never seen b4, & he acted like it was no big deal! I pointed out that my friend had only eaten 3 BITES, b4 she saw the fruit fly CRAWLING IN HER FOOD, & I suggested he make her a fresh plate. He offered a SMALL size replacement! He took her plate away, then brought her back a to-go dish, most likely w/her original plate of food...I CANNOT go back there ANYMORE, VERY bad management, WITHOUT CARLOS.

Get the chunky guacamole. I got it with mango and weeee ohhh. So good! For dinner I got enchiladas and they were good too.

Terrible drinks. They have a large menu, and no training on how to properly make the drinks. The margaritas are good, but it is the most popular drink in America, no surprise why people like them. Their serving drinks they don't know how to make. Often, the food taste like rill soap. We shouldn't be tasting the chemicals in our food. There are some excellent items, showing that this restaurant has serious potential to become great rather than less than average. The atmosphere and the owner are great and respectful. Lots of work to do still, the owner has more than one establishment and a growing family. The restaurant needs to be squared away if the owner desires to grow even more in the business.
