Here’s a tighter, more polished version that keeps your points but reads like a strong Google review:
We just went to Burtwood Tavern, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we’ve had in a long time.
This used to be one of our favorite places to eat. When we pulled into the parking lot and saw it nearly empty on a weekend, it immediately concerned us, but we decided to give it a chance anyway.
The first thing we noticed when we walked in was that the warm, inviting atmosphere was gone. The lighting has apparently been changed to extremely bright bulbs that are almost blinding when you enter. Combined with the empty dining room, the place felt completely different from what we remembered. While I love “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by nirvana, it doesn’t seem like the best choice for a place like this.
We started with the lobster bisque and a Caesar salad. The lobster bisque was unlike any soup I’ve ever seen. It was so thick and gelatinous that it wouldn’t even pour off the spoon—it came off in chunks. The photos speak for themselves. The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, and the lettuce was clearly past its prime. It was mushy and wilted in the middle.
For our entrées, I ordered the chicken Parmesan. The portion size was generous, but the pasta was terrible. The noodles looked either a day old or as if they had been sitting in pasta water for far too long. They had a grayish appearance and were completely mushy when you bit into them.
The most disappointing part is that our server was very friendly, attentive, and professional. She did her best, but she was stuck serving food coming out of a kitchen that clearly isn’t being held to the standards this restaurant once had. To their credit, they removed the meal from the bill, which was the right thing to do.
It’s genuinely sad because Burtwood Tavern used to have excellent food. Based on this experience, it feels like management has let the quality slip dramatically. Looking at the overall rating, I honestly don’t understand how you can send food like that out to the table.

Stopped here during a weekend golf trip. We had a party of 12. Called and they were able to seat us right away. It was around 5:30 on Saturday night. The restaurant was probably 85% empty when we got there. Made us a little uneasy of what the experience would be. We were seated right away. They waitress took our drink orders in a timely manor. The menu has some variety but is pretty limited with your choices. Mostly chicken dishes, sandwiches and flatbreads. Once we ordered it did take a little time to get our food. They may or may not have had enough help in the kitchen, not sure. Food came and it all looked pretty good. The guys seemed to enjoy what they got. Cheeseburger, Salmon, Hot Chicken sandwich and sliders, beef sliders to name a fee meals. I had the beef sliders. They were OK. Not sure they were worthy of the price ($15 for 3) but at that point we were all hungry. The waitress checked on us and was around to refill drinks.
Once we were done and time to pay this wasn't the smoothest operation. Some cash, some cards. It took awhile for everything to be cashed out. One of us was charged for somebody else's beer. That was a little bit of a process to get that taken off his bill. In the end he was still charged for it. He was then told he would see a refund in a few days. Should have been refunded immediately.
Our waitress was a little frazzled over the situation. We found out that she is fairly new and we were the first large group she has had. She actually did a good job. I wish I could remember her name to give her a shout out.
The bar area looked busy when we left.
Probably would not eat here again just for the fact the menu is as limited as it is.

Only problem: Mothers Day we had 6 in our party and were seated in extremely uncomfortable and unstable rental chairs. Apparently they use rental chairs and tables when expecting bigger crowds on special days. Don’t be afraid to ask for a regular chair if you are too uncomfortable. Our waitress immediately switched chairs for me.

Shame on management for not staffing more people on Mothers day weekend. These poor staff are running around like chickens with no head clearly overworked. We waited an hour from when our reservation was and the girl who was supposed to be clearing the table was talking to a customer for 30 minutes. Our drinks took 25 minutes to get to us after being seated. Restrooms were absolutely filthy because there isnt enough staff to get to them. Shame on the management here! Awful experience at no fault of our poor server.

The meal was enjoyable, featuring flavorful dishes that satisfied our palate. However, the slow service at both the food and bar stations, combined with unclean restrooms that were not well-maintained, detracted from the overall experience.

I ordered take out. Three salads. Said it would take 20 min over the phone. When I arrived I was told twice that they were boxing it up. After 20-30, I asked how much longer and the lady up front went back to kitchen. When she came back, she apologized and they said they were making them. I was waiting for over an hour and they kept stating the food was on way. When food arrived, they forgot the chicken in one of the salads. They also did not provide silverware (which is usually not a big deal but after waiting an hour for three salads and forgetting the protein, i was not very pleased). At one point it seemed the hostess was avoiding me as I waited up front to ask about the food. Honestly, jokes on me for waiting so long and not asking for a refund and just going up the street to chik fil a. I do not recommend this place for take out.
Food was good. But boy, service was lacking.
