I wish I could give 10 starts. This restaurant quickly skyrocketed to my list of favorites. There aren't words suitable for how delicious the food was. The small plates are a great option to share and get a taste of everything! The decor is festive and fun and the environment is comfortable. The service was great as well!
The wait staff was totally awesome and courteous, attentive. The Chef prepared a great brunch for us, Gumbo, bacon infused doughnut cakes and a wonderful lavender lemonade. Definitely will be going back.
As always, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We started out with the Wedge Salad, which actually is too much for one person, and then enjoyed the Étouffée with chicken, sausage and shrimp. Finished off the meal with the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding.
This was our first time visiting and really enjoyed it! Our server, Raven, was very sweet and made great recommendations! We had the pimento cheese appetizer, and the Monica's Pasta and the étouffée both with chicken and shrimp as our main entrees. We also had the bread pudding for dessert which was highly recommended. Everything was delish and we plan to visit again to try other incredible dishes!
My business associate and I enjoyed our dinner here with a bottle of 1997 Chateau Musar White Wine from Lebanon. It was the perfect accompaniment to his West Bank Mussels and my Decatur Street Muffaletta. We split a Caesar salad, which was plenty for both of us as we are in our 70s. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
The place is great but the guy who served us was awful. I also was served a glass of rose with a lipstick stain. I love the food and atmosphere though so will go back anyway, need new servers
Went for Father's day brunch and had good food and good portion sizes. We'll be back. Loved the Poutine.
We recently celebrated an anniversary here and had a phenomenal experience! The service was top-notch, and the food was delicious. We were surprised with a glass of champagne for our celebration, which was a nice little touch. I had the truffle mac & cheese with shrimp as my main entrée. It was from the small plates menu, but it was enough for me to have dinner and lunch the next day. They definitely did not skimp on the shrimp and it was just right with a little bit of spice. I definitely recommend this place if you want a casual and cozy feel with some unique dishes. And don't miss the bread pudding for dessert!
Their flatbread with garlic butter is addictive.
Love them! Everything is good.

We've been here 3 times in the past 5 months even though we live far away because we're in love with their fried oysters basket (and live music). However, when we got our favorite dish today, they tasted overcooked, smelly, and was just all around unpleasant to eat. I'm torn as to return in the future because we like everything else about the restaurant... but their oysters today were just plain bad that we didn't even ask for a To Go box.
Service is usually good, but today the beer took a while to arrive. And the busser seemed to care more about our dish experience than the server himself. Very disappointed, and I hope it's a one-off thing.
I kinda hate to write this review because I probably should have said something to the staff when I was there earlier today. My husband and I have frequented Brew River since it first opened, as we were fans of Bella Luna which occupied the space before they closed and Brew River opened. Service is usually very good, as well as the food, but both the service and the food were incredibly subpar today. After being seated, two other tables were seated after us. Both of the tables seated after us were attended to first, and even were able to receive and eat their whole meals before we even got our food. When our food came out, it was not correct. I ordered the eggs sardou and not only was it missing the artichokes and spinach aspect, it was incredibly lacking in seasoning, and served on top of an entire piece of toast vs being served with toast points. I also usually really enjoy the crispy potatoes, but they were under seasoned as well. My husband ordered the jambalaya and he said his was over seasoned with salt, and was basically one giant bowl of rice. I have had the jambalaya in the past and it looked nothing like what he received today. On top of that, we each ordered a drink, me a delta queen, and he a bloody mary. His bloody mary which is supposed to be served with a piece of bacon and pickled veggies, came with only 2 olives. My delta queen was good, but i had wanted to order a mimosa and was never even checked on or asked if we wanted anything else as we watched the waitresses attend to every other table around us. Also, as we had already gone through our water during our long wait, I sat without anything to drink for most of my meal until my husband flagged down a waitress to ask for more water. Shortly before we left, another couple was seated at the table next to us, regulars that apparently knew the chef. I had thought with how off the food was, that maybe the regular chef wasn’t in, but the chef came out to talk to this couple, and it was the normal chef, so I don’t know why the food was so off. It was frustrating to watch this couple get served their food at rapid speed compared to our experience, and then we watched the chef give them a free $50 gift card. Needless to say, it will be a long time before we will want to go back here, but I hope next time that our experience is way better than what it was today, or else it will be the last time we ever go.
Edit: to add that had we actually been checked on, I may have been able to do what you asked. But by the time we were able to flag anyone down, it wasn’t worth it. After the response, godspeed.
Amazing gumbo poutine! My boyfriend and I both loved our entrees as well, he had the catfish po boy sandwich and I had the pasta Monica.
This is one of our go to places for a good meal and lively atmosphere. Service is always great and I think the Poutine and Gumbo might be my favorite meal to order here more than anywhere else in town.. If you are not a Creole fan, grandson, a very picky eater thinks the burger is the best in town. Fried Green tomatoes are wonderful as are the pickled vegetables.
Nay was amazing. Just her and the cook taking care of everyone. Nay is so sweet and easy going. Never saw any stress or tension. She is a wonderful bartender and waitress. Pleasant and efficient. Five stars for Nay!
